1st AF after coming off the pill...? (?TMI)

Hi all,

I came off the pill (I was on mercilon, followed by a month of microgynon) last month, as my normal pill apparently is unavailable and the replacement I was prescribed reeeeally did not suit me. Also hoping being off it will make it a little easier for me to lose some weight over the next few months.

So, unfortunately not off it for baby-making

Anyway, I had my withdrawal bleed, and am due on my first proper AF around this weekend. It's been a few years since I was last off the pill, so I can't really remember, but my body is doing funny things and I'm not sure it's normal! I just want a bit of reassurance...

Mainly, I have very tender nipples, and slightly tender boobs - I'm used to the tender boobs bit, but not sure if the nipples is down to the lack of pill or something like rubbing on my sports bra? They're not chapped/chafed or anything like that, just tender.

And I've been having cramps in my uterus, exactly like AF cramps but very 'defined' and fleeting, just a couple of seconds, every couple of hours. While I've been on the pill the cramps would start just as the witch herself arrived, and I don't remember ever having these peculiar cramps before

(Just as an aside, I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant!)

Any thoughts? Am I normal?

I came off Yasmin mid Feb, and had final withdrawal bleed starting on the 25th feb, so should be due AF on 25th (my normal, non-BC cycle is 28days), and am having similar symptoms to yours. I think tho, that my cramps are longer lasting, and I have a good 10 days to go before AF.... it could be our bodies getting used to being back in control again, or it could be something else!!

xx

i was actually kind of wondering this too as i just started b/c and i want to ttc in january 2012 and was thinking to stop taking b/c if that would be enough time to get my body back in order before ttc or if i need to do a few more months off of b/c before ttc im not really sure..

hey
i cannot tell you about the sore boobs and nipples
but ever since coming off the pill i noticed these sharp AF like cramps too, i get them probably up to a week before AF actually shows and I also get them around ovulation time. So I think that's normal.
Also your body is gonna take some time to adjust, my first cycles after the pill were around 35 days but then they slowly adjusted to my normal cycle length

Still no sign of AF, and boob soreness and tummy cramping have all but gone...cycle day 29 today. If I was still on the pill I'd have come on this morning. I've never had this before after coming off the pill, my cycles have always regulated immediately.

I POAS on Tuesday morning, just to make sure, and it was negative, but I'm thinking it was a bit early to be doing that anyway. Oh well, maybe it'll just take a few more days to make an appearance. I don't know why I want it to come so badly, anyway, it's a nightmare when it gets here!!!

My cycle ended up being a lot longer after coming of the pill. My AF lasts for less time (used to be a full 7 days, I don't really miss that) and my total cycle is a few days longer. I have cramps pretty regularly. I think my body's just adjusting. Tracking your temperature may help you figure out what's going on, if you don't already.

Those sound like AF symptoms to me. When I'm not on BC my nipples get very sensitive and sore for days or even a week before.

Sounds like your AF. I have been off BC since october and i get AF pains about 8 days before it comes and around 3 days before everything stops i get no warning or nothing. I'm due on today or tomorrow (i'm 28-29 day cycle) and i wont have any warning and never get any mood swings at all
Good luck

You were right, ladies! I was thinking, right, if it hasn't turned up by Thursday, I'm getting another test, just to make sure, but it sidled up and got me first thing this morning, no cramps, no warning, no nothing! Weird...when I was on the pill I'd get cramps the instant it started. I've been a little crampy on and off today but I took some feminax ultra (I think...the stuff with naproxen in, anyway) first thing, and I've got one of those period pain TENS machine things to try...it was 1/2 price in Lloyds, and I figured since my AF always used to be such a nightmare when I was off the pill, it might be a worthwhile investment!

Is it sad that I have now got an excel spreadsheet to keep track of my cycles so I know what's happening at what time when we're TTC?
