Fitness when WTT

What are all of your fitness routines like right now (if any)? I currently go to the gym 3-4 days a week, plus play/walk outside with my dog on a daily basis. I am fit, hoping to get more toned and maybe lose 5 lbs or so, but otherwise, nothing major.

I know many people continue their workout routines when they are TTC and throughout their pregnancies. I would ideally like to continue what I am doing, but want to talk to my doctor about it first. I run a lot, and when I do I get warm and feel that my body temperature gets up fairly high (something I'd want to test out for sure before continuing if TTC). If I can't continue to run, I'll take long walks, plus my easy weight routines, and yoga or pilates. Of course, this is all a plan as I still have several months to go before TTC.

Anyhow, what are you currently doing, and what do you plan to do when the time comes? If you already have LOs, what did you do during your pregnancies?

at the moment im doing nothing at all, but thats mainly cause i just dont have the time right now with my assignment deadlines coming up.

tbh i hate the gym and anything too physical but i have made a deal with myself that once im done at uni id like to tone up, i used to do an exercise video a few times a week which kept me in great shape so i might take that up again...ill deff do some exercise while pregnant cause ive heard thats its really good for you and the baby x

I walk about four miles per day, well days I'm at work anyway. I run two or three days per week and I'm generally fairly active otherwise. I'd like to keep exercising through TTC and hopefully pregnancy.

I keep reading about doing pregnancy yoga, but that doesn't do it for me to be honest! I'm used to more physical exercise. Perhaps swimming would suit me. I quite like the stress-release I get from running! I like being out of breath lol!

hah, I like being out of breath as well - it makes me feel like I've accomplished something! That's my worry with running, is that I push myself with it and then heat my body.. maybe I'll have to tone it down slightly eventually.

The yoga that I have been doing is a Power Yoga - it definitely is not easy work, lots of toning. I also love the stretching benefits of it, helps me to stay flexible.

Now that you mention swimming, that is something I'd love to get into more again - I used to be a huge swimmer, but just don't get myself out to do it now. Aquafit might be a good one to add in!

I'm bloody hopeless in a swimming pool LOL! I don't like putting my face in the water, so that's a bit trick. I love the 'me' time aspect of going running, but I guess if I want to be a mum I'll have to get used to NOT having any me time!

I was training for a half marathon when I found out I was pregnant with DS. I didn't continue to run because it was uncomfortable for me even in the first tri. I know lots of women who continued to run though. I did keep up with work outs. I worked out twice a day often in my 2nd tri. It was a great stress reliever and I had morning sickness throughout my whole pregnancy and it seemed to make that go away for a bit. I did some intense workouts too. My dr. felt that I could do anything that I had done before I got pregnant as long as it was comfortable for me. Also, it didn't seem to affect my weight gain. I gained on the high end of the limit even with the working out. Although I was able to lose the weight very quickly after I delivered I think because of working out.

I currently run about 5 days a week and actually working out is helping keep my mind off not ttc yet. I want to tone up and I'd be happy to lose 10 lbs. Then at least my body will be in good shape before a baby. I've had friends run in their first tri but I'd want to double check with a dr before I continue. Also I heard pregnancy yoga was good

I run twice a week, do weights twice a week and swim
1-2 times.

I am on a big weight loss compaign, I've lost 1.5 stone, another 1.5 to go to my final goal. I want to get there before ttc in oct.

I love exercise, I am addicted to it!

I won't stop anything while TTC, but will take soca advise for pregnancy. I certainly will be swimming and yoga while preg and weights for arms etc for as long as I can.

X

Sounds like everyone has some great plans! I agree that working out does keep your mind focused on something other than TTC. I really need to focus on my core now, as it's been my weak area lately, and I know a strong core will be very beneficial before, during, and after pregnancy.
