My daughters birthday is New Years Eve. It is a bit harder as its the holidays as as someone else said people are a bit skint etc and plus usually are planning their own New Years Eves but saying that we have has 3 very successful birthdays so far so I dont think it matters all that much.
Though my birthday is Jan 5th, my brothers is 22nd Dec and OHs is November so Im sooooo glad this one is due in July lol

We're starting ttc in April because I'd like to avoid a Christmas baby. Like someone's already said i'm certain i'd not avoid it next year if we've not been sucessful by March. I also feel sorry for friends who have birthday's in January (because everyone's always skint!) but not enough to avoid it!!

I agree with this it took us a year to conceive our DD and i got to the point where it really didnt matter when her birthday would be.
I guess everyone has different views when TTC

OP i dont think its being selfish, December is an expensive time of year for anyone!

As someone with a Christmas birthday, I would say wait! I really, seriously HATE having a christmas birthday. My parents made my birthdays special as a kid, but it's a different story as an adult. I don't find christmas adds to the excitement of my birthday - my heart sinks every year when I try to organise a get together with even just a few of my closest friends (like five or six people). I started organising my birthday in September one year, just to try and get all my close friends there, and it was still a mission! My friends really do try, but it's just such a busy time of year it can't be helped.

This is the one thing i hate about being a christmas baby! No one can ever make it out for your birthday because of other plans or money!
