Mirena Removal

So as we are WTT #2 after xmas and new year I am wondering when would be the best time to have my mirena coil removed? Ive heard that you should give ure self a cycle before TTC. Has anyone had previous experience of having mirena removed and how long after did u concieve? Getting nervous now the closer its getting

A cycle should be plenty of time. When I had it removed I went straight on the pill so not too sure but the doctors said ideally i should have had a month off to let me body have a natural cycle and then go on the pill so i'm assuming that one cycle is enough to get your body back to how it was and ready to start conceiving

It's not really, just a little uncomfortable. It's less uncomfortable than being put in. Afterwards you have a similar feeling of relief that you get after you finish giving birth lol, you know it's like ahhh it's finished.

But obviously having the coil come out is absolutely nowhere near as painful as having a baby come out lol.

Anyways...like I said, it's just a little uncomfortable.

I was planning on having mine out a month before we TTC. I heard that the coil makes the lining of your womb thin so thinking one cycle would be enough. After saying that I posted the same question on here and was told to do it a lot sooner so now am not to sure when to have it out xx

I think one cycle would be enough but if you're worried make it two or 3 months before you plan to TTC.

I had a mirena before having my LO; had it taken out, waited a cyle for my first proper period, not the 'withdrawl' bleed you get straight afterwards. Conceived in the first cycle.

have just had my second coil removed... waited a cycle so waiting for proper AF and TTC no 2!

both times it was a wee bit sharp coming out but really no big issue and did not need any pain killers!

I'd say if you want to be sure, have it taken 3 months out before you TTC to allow your cycles to come back; the mirena coil doesn't affect ovulations but as mentioned above, as it affect the womb lining, it can be a while before a regular flow comes back..... but you can still be ovulating!!!
good luck

I just had my Mirena removed Sept 21st. It wasn't painful. It felt very similar to when they do a pap test. I had a removal bleed Sept 24th...and my first AF Oct 21st. I have been charting and I did ovulate this past month....so it is possible to get pregnant within one cycle.

I would recommend 3 months. Take it out...get to know your fertility signs....and make a baby!!!!

piece of cake coming out and I'm pretty sure I was charged a bunch--probably could have done it myself had I know how easy it was---similar to removing a tampon!! It took 11 months for me, but I wasn't charting after so I guess I was on more of a NTNP path--lost baby and am waiting to try again once I get OK from my Dr. Good Luck when you are ready!!

I had my Mirena taken out in the beginning of September, giving me a full year to get my cycles back before we TTC. It only took a month for me to get my period back. It didn't hurt getting removed.
