High risk?!

Hi. I guess I am just curious as to my next pregnancy whether it will be high risk, I had a high risk pregnancy in 2005, delivered in August of that year at 40w3d. I went into preterm labor 8 times starting at 25w, so i was in the hospital constantly, was on bed rest from 25w to 35w, and light activity after that. I also had the LEEP procedure done last July, so like 7 months ago and was told that could make me high risk. I am not currently pregnant and wont TTC for about another year, but I want to get as much information as I can before I TTC. I have a preconception appointment in 3 weeks to talk to my Dr. about it. Can anybody help?

Hi hun. Didn't want to R&R but I really don't know what to say. Your Dr would be the one to give you real advice.

I was told that years ago too, when I got my LEEP. But I am with a fertility specialist now and I shared my fears with him. he told me that they ALL have to say that to cover their butts because if in fact you had several leep procedures then there might be a risk.

go to your doc and have him/her look at your cervix if you want to feel totally safe. They even have a "stitch" procedure now if you have a weaker cervix, that holds everthing in so-to-speak.

Depending on how old you are - I would get bloodwork done before you "wait" to make sure you aren't missing out on your best years to have another baby.

Although - I just reread y our post - if you were high risk then - you will probably be high risk for the reasons you were the first time. Skip the regular OB and get with a highrisk ob and you will feel much more comfortable. eh?

Thank you! I am only 24 so i am still pretty young, and could stand to wait probably another 10 years if i wanted. I have a appointment in 3 weeks for them to check my cervix, also, the I was thinking the problems from before might have been related to my age i was 16/17. and maybe my body wasnt ready to handle carrying a child.. IDK but thanks!

There is a chance that you might, and that you might not. You won't really know unless/until it happens. Good luck momma!

Hi hun, I had a high risk pregnancy with my son. I guess anyone who has had a high risk pregnancy will considered high risk in their other pregnancies until proven otherwise x

I always thought that if you had one high risk pregnancy, all of your other pregnancies would be considered high risk as well. Though I'm certainly no expert. I think your doctor will have much better answers for you. Good luck!
