Same here. Money (or lack of it) is what is stopping us from trying now. That and waiting is beneficial for me so I can get settled in my job as a staff nurse. My partner has an overdraft of 3k so he wants to start getting out of that before we try. Because we've been staying with his parents until we are settled in our jobs, it's meant that he is in a better position to sort that out. I think he's planning on putting money away so then he can pay it off completely. Ive avoided a large overdraft (it's £50) because I know I'll get stick in it and struggle to get out of it again. My bank have tried getting me to get a credit card but I don't trust myself with one. Sure they are helpful but it just puts temptation in front of me!!!

I'd like to put some money away in my savings for baby or if something crops up and we need it (ie car breaking down) I just dont know how much a month would be enough so that I could save quite a bit but also so that it wouldn't leave me short by the end of the month.

I'm also waiting so that I know I'll be entitled to full maternity pay. Every little helps!

Me and OH have a loan that we're going to be paying off until December - monthly repayments are £135 so we want to clear that first as well as my £1500 overdraft and also to have a decent sized amount of savings for if something goes wrong. Im due to finish my degree in May as well so I would like to be working before TTC as well so we're more financially stable. Taking all this into account, we probably won't start trying until this time next year but I'd rather be financially in the clear before having a baby. Good luck to you with paying off your credit cards etc xxxx

Because in reality, we're always going to have some sort of debt. If it's not my credit card, it's student loans from school or it's car payments. We're at a point now where we can make payments on those things and still have plenty leftover for a LO (granted we haven't moved yet so that may change, fingers crossed it doesn't though). If the situation was different where we were barely making ends meet because of credit card/loan debt we certainly wouldn't be planning to TTC but thankfully that isn't the case. I guess I just think it's not necessary to have everything paid off before TTC if having some debt doesn't cause you to struggle with a LO.

Hi girls! I was ADDICTED to this site back before Xmas but haven't been on in ages so hi! We're a WTT due to finances - we had an extension built last year as we can't afford to upsize so added space to our little house, we got the extension on 0% for 12 months so have to pay this off this May (£15k) - we would have been bang on target to meet it but we very unexpectedly had to buy a car in December so we're going to be £5k short ( gutted as we'd worked our butts off to get in all together and if it wasn't for the car drama we would have! On top of this we have a £3k credit card debt to clear, we then need to save to have a new kitchen fitted THEN can we save for a baby fund and TTC!! Really gets me down sometimes how far away it seems (esp as the car has added an extra 5 months to the wait / ) but its lovely to have everyone on here as company whilst I wait!

Lets pray to win the lotto eh!?! x

We're in the same situation - we have a loan and credit card - we should be able to pay it off within a year or 18 months if we're really careful its just so frustrating when you're feeling so broody and other people are having babies and making it work!
