You can take a test a couple of days before your expected period.. whenever that may be? It depends on how long your luteal phase is!

I would assume I was pregnant until confirmed either way, no smoking/drinking/cod liver oil (unless your doc says otherwise!), take your prenatals, drink plenty of water, and/or whatever else you plan on doing when you're pregnant!

Personally, there is no way I will be drinking a single drop when we start ttc.. but I'm a mental health counselor & have seen the effects of alcohol on children. Everyone has to do what they think is best, though so no judgment here either!

Thanks so much ladies for all your advice. AF's not due 'til the 17th... or at least assuming my usual 30 day cycle that is. Maybe as I OV'd early my cycle will be shorter though? Might do a test on the weekend of the 14th/15th if nothing's happened by then.

Was getting some pretty intense cramping last night and some pulling/squeezing feelings like I've never felt before but maybe I'm just hyper aware of it and it's OV cramping? Who knows.

Off to my mum and dad's for the weekend now and had better not be spotted on here whilst there, I'd never hear the end of it haha. Thanks again for your support, will keep you updated

Any time I've had a scare that would put me in the TWW, I avoid stuff that I would not do while pregnant (like not drinking, though I don't do a lot of that to begin with so that's not hard for me). Anytime I have a scare though I don't stop taking my bcp just in case I'm not pg, I still want to be protected. So I would personally talk to your doctor about whether or not you should stop taking the cod liver oil. Also a FRER can detect pregnancy 6 days before a missed period so if you're due on the 17th, the earliest I would take a test would be the 11th.

Hello ladies, just wanted to check in. I've been symptom spotting like mad and am trying not to drive myself crazy but my husband just commented, totally unprompted, that my nipples look darker!!

Still, must not obsess, must not obsess... I've decided I will test on Sunday. I know it's early in relation to AF but as I OV'd early it will be 10dpo. If neg I'll test again on Weds. Will keep you updated!

Hey hun,

Over in some of the other subsections of the forum threads can move really fast. Alot of new threads are posted and alot of replies are sent to some of the more popular 'group' type threads, so i wouldn't worry so much about few replies to your thread. I found it like that when I was there too, it can be very intense and things move really fast in those threads.

I really hope the outcome you get is what your hoping for. We fell pregnant on the 2nd month of trying (pretty blooming amazing now i think about it). In the first 2ww, I was heavily symptom spotting too. I think i kinda new though coming up to when my AF was due that it was going to be a negative that month. The 2nd month of trying (when i got my BFP) things felt really different. My boobs where noticeably a little bigger (which never happens for me) and they where also quite sore (i have never experienced sore boobs in my life up until now). Things felt really quite different this time, and I was going to hold out testing until the day of my expected AF. I caved and tested the day before (I only had one test, the 2nd test from the twin pack i bought the month before) and it soon turned to positive when my OH dipped the stick.

My only advice would be to hold of testing for as long as you can. The disappointment of testing too early and it being negative really hurts. Although saying that, I know how horrible the tww is. The last tww before my BFP was just a nightmare.

Keep us updated and I hope things go ok for you.

x

Thanks Olivette, I really appreciate your input. My main problem when it comes to testing is that I OV'd 3 days early - so does this mean (in theory) my cycle would be 3 days shorted than normal? (If that makes sense) Based on my usual timings AF wouldn't be due until 19-20 days after ovulation. So I'm thinking I can test sooner than that?!

If you know when you O'd, I'd suggest testing at least 12 DPO, preferably 14 DPO. Chemical pregnancies are actually quite common and devastating.

Hope you get the result you're hoping for.

Hmm. OK then I'll try and hold off for a few days. I haven't actually got any tests in the house but a walk past a chemist for work every day so it's hard to wait!

J04NN4 - remember that when you get a positive Ovulation test, you likely don't ovulate that day (usually a day or two later). Saying that, your cycle could be a day or two shorter, and even if you didn't ovulate on that exact day, you still have a good chance of becoming pregnant.

Have you tested yet?
