My dd who is 8 now, when she was 1 we put her on cows milk and it constipated her so we just went back to formula for another month or 2 then tried again and she was fine. So just try again in a little while, and make sure you're giving plenty of fruit when you try again.

My girls have been having the same issue, even though we only have them on cows milk 50% of the time, rice milk the other 50%. We have upped the P fruits (aPricots, Peaches, Pears, Plumbs, Prunes) and backed off on bananas and oatmeal- also getting them to drink more water during the day seems to be helping.

DS1 had the same issue. And he also had reflux. We found out he had an intolerance to the protein in cows milk. The reflux wasn't as bad as the constipation. He was constantly straining but the biggest thing is that he would get rabbit turds that were very small and very hard. Poor little guy was like that for a LONG time until we realized the intolerance. We switched to Goat Milk and now he poops just fine

you could also see about taking your LO to a chiropractor. I couldn't believe the difference it made in the poops of both my toddler and my infant! it was a like a miracle worker!

my nephew gets constipated if he drinks too much milk. As far as i know he doesn't have an intolerance, but they just have to be careful about how much milk he gets in a day.

This is the exact problem my 16 mth old had with dairy products. She had [I]horrible constipation, and I would cry right along with her! We did an elimination diet, got rid of all dairy and processed grains, and our pediatrician put her on almond milk. In addition, she gets lots of water, berries, flax oil, sweet potato, and beans in her diet. It has made a world of difference!
