Please help a newbie out. :)

So LO has just turned 4 months old, please don't judge me for not waiting till he's 6 months old. The health visitor advised me to start weaning as LO has gone above the 100 centile line :/
So I haven't a clue what to do!
I gave him some puréed mango a few days ago and he loved it, he cried when I stopped feeding him (I didn't want to overdo it on the first go) and he was grabbing the spoon off of me and feeding himself!
Is it bad that his first food was mango and not baby cereal?
I've also given him purées pears since and am going to try some veggies next.

What I was planning to do was just feed him purées now and again. Maybe every few days as I'm not too happy about weaning him just yet. Is this a bad idea? I really need advice

What time of day should I be giving him the food?
When should I feed him two portions a day?
How much?? He seems to not want to stop eating it.
God I feel so clueless and confused. Any helpful advice please ladies?
Help

If you are not happy weaning him then don't. You don't have to do what the health visitor says. I can't see why being a big baby needs he needs to be weaned. It makes no sense to me.
There is no need to ever use baby rice if you don't want to. In my opinion it is bland tasteless stuff unlike mango which is a real food and is very tasty.
