Hi im thinking ahead onto pureeing foods and wondered if its safe to use say canned peaches/pineapple if they are in syrup? Obviously id drain the syrup but just wondered if anyone has used these at all?xx

I sometimes give Ruby tinned pears in juice, she LOVES them, but I don't do purees so not sure about that aspect. I would definitely go for ones in juice rather than syrup if you do use them.

I give Joe tinned fruit but only in juice, not in syrup as I'd be worried it would be too sweet.

I did this when LO was starting on purees, I got for example tinned peaches and pureed them with a hand blender and sometimes I used to freeze them in little pots. If it comes in syrup you can just wash them beforehand.

I find those little one-portion plastic pots of fruit in juice are really handy, because when you've opened a tin you've got ever so much fruit to do something with, and I always think tinned fruit tastes of the tin!

Oh yes they're good too. Ruby loves the 'Nature's Finest' papaya, it's more than one serving but as least you can just put the pot back into the fridge unlike a tin!
