I tried a couple different baby rices and Anna hated them - I tasted them and discovered why!!

Anna took cow&gate creamy porridge and banana porridge - a box will last over a month so dont get too many! And remember when LO is 6/7 months they can have weetabix/ready brek!

Isaac prefers baby rice to porridge! I use the rice to thicken things now and as the porridge is quite runny, i think he thinks mum why are you feeding me milk from a spoon!!!

I stick to either Heinz or Cow & Gate, but that's because those are the only brands here that I know from when I lived in the UK, so I trust them more.

My LO hated BR, so I give porridge. BR is more for padding out the milk, is it's so bland it hardly has flavour. But the good thing is that you can add puree to it and make it taste nicer, or vice versa; make the puree a bit more bland, if your LO doesn't like it strong. On their own though, I favour porridge. I also buy the flavoured ones; gives LO something a bit more exciting

If you have time, remember that you can also puree things like squash, banana, potato etc, which have more natural nutrients in them Not sure that BR has any nutrients at all

If you add less milk, the porridge will be thicker. The C&G one says you can do that on the pack

We've been using porridge, but actual porridge as in oats rather than the cow and gate porridge which is rice and corn porridge. We do have some baby rice which I use to thicken certain purees, but they do seem to prefer the oats
