Essential Equipment for BLW

Kaylum's not much interested in solid food, so Tattie has started a combination of traditional and BLW .... at meal times he gets a little bit of whatever we are having on his high chair tray - then once we've finished eating and he's finished smushing it up, trying bits and pieces and throwing it onto the floor he gets a few spoons of exactly the same food, but pureed just to make sure he has eaten something.

It's great for him because he gets to experience textures and tastes and self feeding - all the benefits of BLW - but not so great for my dining room carpet Sooooo .... after surveying the mess from Sunday Lunch yesterday and wondering quite how I'm going to persuade my hoover to accept shredded broccoli, gummed carrot, squished peas and drooled on chicken I hit on the easiest solution....

Let the dogs in

They cleared the lot in 10 seconds flat, right down to the last speck of broccoli ! Now that's what I call essential equipment

We so could have done with at least one dog in the early days! They would have had a feast because Ruby wasn't into solid foods until she was closer to 8 months!

Haha. My dog must think it's christmas everyday these days as she gets to lick so much food off the floor. Talk about mixed messages as well, we used to be really strict with her and stopped her from jumping at food if we dropped something and now it's totally the opposite.

I know what you mean - my dogs have never been fed from our plates and are trained not to bother with people food and now, all of a sudden, it's PARTAAAY

if you dont have a pet that will eat it then you can get plastic matting to lay under and around ( at least .5 -1mt ) the highchair to catch it

Ive heard that babies go through a "isnt it fun to purposefully drop food on the floor" stage.... i dont think Travis's dropping stage will last too long with Dayna hovering about waiting for it!
