Please hold off a bit longer! There is a classic growth Spurt at 3 months, LO has just gone through it. It wont last long. There are far more calories in milk than food, also their digestive systems are far too immature to handle anything other than milk at this age. LO weighed in at 14lb at 2 months and currently in 6-9 month vests and baby grows, however he is still nowhere near ready for solids yet. You will find that you LO will calm her milk consumption down a lot in a week or so! Xx

As for a routine, I just go with LO. As soon as he shows signs of being tired, I'll settle him for a nap. I tried a routine a week ago but trying to make a baby nap when he isn't tired just doesnt work and is a bit stressful.
I've made my decision. I dont see what difference a few weeks makes anyway. There guidelines, no one baby is the same. I dont see the big fuss about not weaning early on. The sooner the better I say. I always relate to what my mam has drummed into me....."There was no guidelines when we had you, and theres nothing wrong with you" x

Hi when we started with Ellie we done breakfast so that if it upset her tummy then she would be up and crying through the day and not at night if we gave her it at supper to start with xx

How old was Ellie? Just found out she has reflux, which has been the major problem at bottle times which is why I have turned to weaning early........not sure what to do now....x

Ellie was around 17 weeks corrected so 10 weeks actual when we were told to start weaning her and so far she is fine I know that everyone will say its not til later on in life that you will know if it has effected her but my OH and his brother were BF exclusivly and weaned at 6 months + and they both have lactose intolerance and glucose intolerance and my OH has mild IBS their sister was BF for 3 weeks then FF and weaned at 4 month and she has no health problems. There are guidelines though and they are there for a reason but when I have seen Ellie go through blood tranfusion afer blood tranfsfusion cause her iron levels are always low I thought that taking the medical advice and weaning her to get them up made sense and since then she has one trasfusion and thats because I stoppe feeding her cause I was fed up listening to all the negative comments in person and on forums that I was weaning way to early and she would end up obese, have allergies and I would damage her digestive system, which yeah there is evidance to back that up but obv in OUR case we needed to wean Ellie earlier for health reasons xx

People shouldnt make you feel like that just because you dont believe what they do. There 'guidelines', not one baby is the same. Some need to be weaned earlier whereas others are happy as they are. My auntie weaned early and the HV told her to stop, which she did. Then at 6 months when it came to weaning again it was an absolute nightmare for her. I definately say the younger the better! x

Please don't wean her so early! If she has allergies or digestive issues later in life how are you going to feel?

Guidelines are there for a reason, they should be taken seriously not ignored.

'How would I feel'..... just because you dont believe in weaning early, doesnt account for you saying things like that to me. Its my baby, I know her best and if I believe in weaning her early than shall it be and IF there any any problems in later life, well we'll cross that bridge IF it comes to it.

Hi,

Ive just started weaning at 18 weeks and its driving me daft! On week 2 so trying to bring in a dinner, Can anyone give me any advice?

She used to take about 7oz 5 times a day at 8am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm (give or take!) I started a wee bit porridge at her 11am feed and she loves it (how much should I actually be giving her?) I give her part of a bottle then porridge (as advised) then rest of bottle but now she's refusing the rest of bottle and getting really annoyed!

Started to give her some fruit puree's at dinner time mid bottle a couple of days ago and the sames happened, she wont take her bottle after she has had some fruit!

Have a maybe started too early? I defo thought she was ready and seems to enjoy it but im concerned about her milk intake?

All I did was ask you a question.

The reason I don't agree with weaning early is because it's proven that it can cause problems later in life.

So you know your baby best? Are you able to take a look into her tiny, immature digestive system? Can you tell that it's ready for the solid food that you are going to put into it, against a wealth of medical advice?

I'm sorry but I just don't understand how anyone can take a risk with their babies health, to be misinformed is one thing but you are choosing to ignore important guidelines which are there for a reason. The earliest they recommend weaning is 17 weeks, that's the absolute earliest.

Still you have clearly made your mind up, I sincerely hope your little girl isn't affected by your early weaning beliefs.
