Mixing baby rice

On advice of the HV, I started to give LO a little bit of baby rice in the evening as he's taking 12oz of hungry baby milk before bed and waking up in the night for more feeds. His intake in 24hrs is about 45-50oz

Anyway....... on the box it says 1 spoon rice to 10 spoon miilk. Well when I mixed it up it was really runny.

The HV reckons it should be a yogurty consistency??

Any idea?

Should I just put less milk?

Try less milk, or more rice.
I found 2spoons rice, 10 milk was best for my LO.

My HV also suggested using a table spoon to start with? This sounds like quite a lot too me, but she says it's fine?

You can try it, tbh worst case scenario is there will be too much for your LO and he will refuse it. But then again, he may eat the whole lot! So i'd just make it up by the tablespoon and then you'll know for next time

45-50 ozs I struggle to get 20 ozs in Coralie!!!

I worry that he takes so much milk, but he's not gaining weight excessively, so HV doesnt mind. He is just above 75% percentile for weight, but is also above 75% percentile for height, so at least he's in proportion.

It's amazing how milk intake can vary from baby to baby xx

Yeah, and how the differend ends of the scale just offer a different set of worries

He sounds well in proportion to me hun, you're doing a fab job! Coralie is 50th for both

Don't forget to pop back on here and let us know what your LO thought of the baby rice!

well I settled on 1 tbs rice and 5tbs milk as this gave me the yogurty consistency that the HV talked of (same ration as you then Kaybea). He ate the whole lot and now he's grumbling, think he wants some more.

Is it ok for me to offer him more?

Yep! My HV told me, and i've read numerous times, you can offer it until they refuse as a baby will not overeat.

My LO never refuses though

Yeah good point! I've been weaning Coralie for ages now and she still doesn't refuse! She just gets angry when the foods all gone
