Traditional weaning means you start off with purees, but then introduce finger food later. It doesnt mean you 'switch' to blw,its just a natural progression from purees to solids.

If you do blw it means you just give whole foods and baby eats themselves,no puree.

I do tw with finger foods. Daniel has fruit, veg and meat purees and he loves finger foods such as brocolli, toast and butter, breadsticks, fruit, crackerbread and I am going to try him with pizza square and tuna pasta this week. For us this works best as I wanted to get him used to a variety of introductions to food. But like anything else, everyone's different its just trial and error really.

You can tw then go to blw but you cant combine the two

Blw isnt finger foods its full on meals no purees at all.

Tw you offer finger foods alongside puree from 7 months anyway

we do both! started off TW and now we mainly BLW but my lo will have a jar (we have loads still!) some of the time, we also feed him yoghurt obviously... lol sometimes we put some of the food down for him to pick up and some puréed. Hes taken to BLW so well! he loves it , so yes you can go from one to the other! what i think helped was having him "feed himself" (me and him holding the spoon) x

That's TW. Puree and finger food.

Blw is no Puree at all and all self feeding

^I'm afraid that is still TW with finger foods, BLW is no purees ever once you've decided to do it (unless its soup or something normally pureed), and the baby would feed themselves yoghurt etc on a pre-loaded spoon which you leave for them on the highchair tray and they pick it up, no holding any spoons for them. I don't want to sound pedantic and there is nothing wrong with TW with finger foods but BLW is a whole other concept xx
