Blw prem babies

Hi lovely ladies

Just wondering if any of you had any experience weaning prem baby? My lo was 5 weeks early and is just 7months actual but still doesn't quite have the coordination to put food in his mouth! I'm wondering whether to just wait until he's ready or should I spoon feed him until he can master it himself?

X

Hi, my LO was 6 weeks premie and we started at just gone 6 months with BLW. She was very slow to start with, and seemed to take ages to get to grips with the food and putting it in her mouth. Then all of a sudden she got the whole idea. Personally I would just keep offering the food and continue with milk feeds as usual. When I thought about it my LO had never really seen us eat so it wasn't until we all started eating together that she copied us. Now there is no holding her back. Good luck, it's so worth it in the end :-) x

Thank you! It's nice to hear of other prem mummies doing blw. I think I'll continue to sit him in his highchair at mealtimes and offer him food and hopefully he will get it to his moth soon. I've toyed with the idea of spoon feeding breakfast and blw the other meals but I shall wait it out for a while x

It's really worth sticking it out, you'll be so amazed how quickly they pick it up. She is a little behind in some other areas of development but steps ahead now with eating :-) good luck x
