share your baby food recipes!

Hi girls, I thought it might be a nice idea to start a thread where us ladies who make our own baby food can post our recipes.

Here's one for Caribbean pork casserole I made for my LO tonight:

Ingredients:

Lean pork cut into cubes
1 small onion diced
1 carrot diced
1 small sweet potato, diced
1 courgette, sliced
Half a mango, chopped
A tin of chopped tomatoes
200ml pure unsweetened apple juice (or water)
Juice of half a lime (optional)
Half a teaspoon of ground ginger (optional)
A little bit of olive oil

Method:

Brown the onion in a sauce pan with the olive oil.

Add the pork and cook till it turns golden

Add the carrot, sweet potato, courgette, mango, tomatoes and Apple juice/water and bring to the boil.

Reduce heat to simmer and add the lime juice and ginger bit by bit to taste

Simmer until all the vegetables are cooked.

Use a blender to puree for younger babies or leave lumpy for older ones

Freeze in individual portions.

Happy cooking!

What a great idea for a thread! Unfortunately I don't have anything to add at the moment as all mine I've got from the Annabel Karmel book. Will share if I get anything decent though.

gosh, i make mine up as i go along lol. for instance, lo had tomatoe and chicken pasta for lunch today.

Soften 1/2 small onion in water, brown chicken, add 3/4 of chopped tomato and cook until chicken is clear.

Cook pasta (im using wheat and gluten free spiral pasta as lo cant have wheat)

Blitz chicken sauce (to a semi puree) and mash pasta. hey presto!! homemade easy chicken pasta. (for babies ready for lumpy food)

Most of my dishes are so random, the other day i made leek and potato soup with baby stock and added it to a sweet potato lo loved it!

Mostly its just random ice cube combinations like brocoili, cauliflower and apple.

the other day i made mince with carrot and potato mash. he liked that too.

or mashed pear with natural yogurt.

poor little guy! tbh the only thing he dosent like so far is cheesy spinach bake from a ready jar. oh and green beans he wasnt keen on.

xx

Chicken tagine:

Ingredients:
1 small chicken breast, cubed
About 5 dried apricots, chopped
1 pint (300ml) baby vegetable stock or boiling water
A small red pepper, roughly chopped
A small onion, chopped
A small sweet potato, chopped
A small clove of garlic, crushed
About half a teaspoon of each of ground cumin, cinnamon and corriander
Optional- a squeeze of lemon or lime juice
A table spoon of olive oil

Method:

Heat the oil in a sauce pan and then brown the chicken.
Add the pepper, onion, sweet potato and garlic and spices to the pan and cook until soft.
Add the stock/water and bring to the boil
Reduce to a simmer and add the apricots and lemon/lime juice.
Continue to simmer for about 30 mins or until the liquid has reduced to a nice sauce.

Puree and freeze if necessary
