Should I give my 1 year old what I eat? Help

Hi girls,
My LO is 1 years old now and so far I have usually always made separate food for her which I usually freeze. Everything is different veggies which I defrost and then add with either, pasta, cous cous, rice, potato etc.
The thing is I would like to give her food we eat which usually contains a bit of salt or stock cubes. Do I just separate the food again without the added salt.

What do you do?

What should I do?

I really am conscious of too much salt and sugar in food.... Am I neurotic?

Thanks

hmmm im struggling with this too. My little one is 1 years old now and I have always struggled with weanning and knowing what they can and cant have. It didnt help that amelie struggled with lumps until recently so I ended up buying the Baby-Led weanning cookbook to get some ideas of things she could feed herself and things we could eat too - id totally recommend it.

Now i try and strike a balance over the week and she has some meals the same as us (tonight we had cheesy pasta with brocoli and sweetcorn so she had that too), some things iv cooked for her specifically (for example she loves sweetcorn chowder with is pureed smooth so i treat it as a soup and i defrost some of that for her and give it to her with toast fingers) and then sometimes a bit of both (so for example we had curry and rice in the week but the curry was too spicy for her so i mixed some of the rice into an ellas kitchen beef stew and she had that.)

A few months ago i really had to re-think the way we eat. I was finding it stressful cooking seperatley for Amelie and us (not to mention expensive) so now i try and think of a few meals a week for her that we can eat too. At lunch times when im at home with her i try and eat what she has - eg il toast us a muffin and chop up some fruit and we'l both have it.

With regards to salt i try not to add anything to the food i cook but if we do have something salty/junky id prob give her her own food that night although recently iv given her a jarred pasta sauce we were having. i just try and buy a decent one with no added nasties etc. My own opinion is that i try and look at what amelie has over a weekly basis and if she had something bit salty one day (today she had a ham sandwich) id watch her salt the next few days...everything in moderation and all that...

sorry - iv rambled abit!

Rubycrumble (great name) there is no such thing as rambling on a forum Thanks so much for your post. I think you're absolutely right....Everything in moderation.
I've also tried the curry (not spicy of course) but she hated it

And so it continues.....

Thx x x

I give a bit of our food, bit of food made especially for her. I understand the salt in stock cube thing, but think the amount she has is small so should be ok, also can't be much worse than some of the additives & preservatives put in jar food to make it last

We give Freya mainly what we eat, apart from if we're having a curry/chinese. We buy low salt stock cubes, or if we're making spag bol, etc, take a portion out for her before adding salt for us. The only thing we don't give her is jar pasta sauces, as DH prefers to make his own and we freeze portions xx

Niamh was eating what we did from 8/9 months including the jars of sauce. I don't add salt to any of my cooking so the once or twice a week I used a stock cube or a jar of sauce isent going to do any harm.

My Lo also had what we had from about 10 months, we dont add salt in cooking. I agree with lozzy a couple of jars of stock cubes a week, i wouldn't panic to much
