Hungry baby at 18 weeks - should I give baby rice

My LO was born at 38 weeks weighing 5.6oz and has always been very hungry baby. With HV backing was put on hungry formula at 5 weeks. He is now 18 weeks and eating every 3 hours day and night about 6oz total of around 40oz per day. I don't mind getting up to feed him and feed on demand but don't want him feeling hungry all the time. He is so tired on a night but wakes to be fed nothing else. Should I start baby rice or is it really too soon. I he getting better at sitting up but doesn't put things in his mouth yet etc

Any advice would be helpful thanks.

In short no, if your baby is hungry then it's because he needs the calories from his milk to grow. All baby rice does is fill them up on stodge with out providing any extra calories. All baby rice is is the stuff you have with your curry but ground down to a powder.

There is a growth spurt at 4 months which can last a few weeks but it settles down after that.

If you do decide to start weaning there are better things to give than baby rice.

Was thinking it could be a major growth spurt!! Going to speak to
Health visitor tomorrow. Will probably leave it for a good weeks yet.
