Advice please 5 months on the 11th!

Hello,
My lo is 5 months on the 11th April. I want To know when you started weaning your lo? What are the signs you need to look for?
My lo can hold her head very well she sits well in her bumbo seat and she is very interested in me and partner or when anyone else is eating.
What sort of thing could I start her on? Baby rice? Baby porridge? Just once a day?
First time mum so I really don't know where to go with this I'm looking forward to weaning her but very nervous to.

Thanks

Hiya, my dd is also 5 months on the 11th (born 2
0 mins after yours lol) and I'm going to start weaning this week. She is showing the same signs as yours but also grabbing at my food too. I'm also a first timer but have read up and there are two options, baby led where you only give finger foods or traditional, where you start with baby rice etc and purees with a bit of finger food and build up to all proper food. We're going for this method. Are you a member of cow and gate baby club cos they sent me a nice weaning guide which looks to be a great starting point.

Omg! Thats amazing that your lo was born 2 mins after. Where abouts are you from? Ive been reading about the traditional way and I think I will go with that start her on baby rice and then go from there. No I haven't joined cow and gate but I will. Is it free? Thankyou

I think from what I've read baby led weaning shouldnt be started till 6 months. I know they say that even for purees but we will be starting before that point as I think she is nearly ready. Like your LO she is showing interest in food, can sit up in her bumbo, makes lots of chewing motions. Some of my friends have older children and they were weaned from 4 months-the advice at the time- and are perfectly healthy. Annabel Karmels website is also good for advice and recipes, I've got the book which makes interesting reading xxx

I'm from Newcastle, well near there, towards the coast. Yeah the cow and gate thing was free and it had loads of vouchers in too. See if you can request one. Seems a really good step.by step plan.
