Two questions....

Hoping someone can help:

Firstly y boy demolished one weetabix every morning - he is 9 months. Should I offer him 1.5 of them but that seems a lot?! He cries web it's finished!

Secondly how do you know how muh to feed them? I get him weighted and he is still on te 50th percentile and has been since one month old.

Thanks x

Hi! i amy not be much help but interested in your questions as i have a daughter who has just turned 9 months. she also eats a full weetabix in the mornings and cries when finished. i would give her a we petit flous yogurt after and this seems to do the trick. I think she would keep eating and eating! she loves her food!
I also find it hard to know how much to give at meal times! i used an annabel karmel book and made a few different meals from it and the portion sizes she recommends seem perfect. i made one that says should do 3 servings so this is what i done and it seemed a good amount. i then alsways give a wee desert like fruit or yogurt.
the part that i find difficult is the finger feeding! how do u know how much they actually eat as soo much ends up on the floor!!!
sorry im not much help but interested in other answers!
is your soon ff or bf? my daughter is bottles fed and i can only get her to drink 2 bottles a day! doesnt seem like enough but she just isnt interested! much more interested in solids!xo

Thanks fior your post - glad I'm not the only one confused by all of this! My boy is FF and takes 3 x 8 oz bottles a day. I give some fruit after the weetabix but maybe I'll try making up one a half and see if he eats it all. I can't get it in his mouth quickly enough

For lunch today he had a bread stick, maybe ate half, some toast with phili on (maybe ate 1/3) and then a little tub iof apple puree from the freezer. I think he was still hunry!

For dinner I'm going to give him a jacket potatoe and see if he eats a lot of that but he tends to eat more in the daytime I find.

i would try that; give him one and a half c how that goes! suppose if he wasnt hungry he prob would fuss etc. do u give him a bottle before his breakfast? my daughter would generally take 7oz milk around 7/7.30am. she the has her breakfast at 8/8.30am. seems quite close together but she looks for it. i then give her toast at around 10am. She then has lunch like fruit and yogurt or a vegetable dish at 12ish. at around 3pm she will have pancake/ bread sandwich or something like that. She then takes dinner at 5pm or thereabouts. usually meat potatoes and veg or a pasta or rice dish. then she has her night bottle around 6.45/7pm.
hope ur son enjoyed his baked potato! my daughter loves her potatoes! she eats anything! health visitor says she should be on 3 bottles still but she point blank refuses it in afternoon and there seems no time to slot it in! unless i cut down her solids but she is doing so well on them!
its trial and error really isnt it?
all the best! sorry i wasnt much help!xo

My Lo is almost 9 months and loves his food I generally know he'sfull up when he starts playing and messing, up until then he's focused on getting fed!

He takes 3 bottle, one 9oz in the morning then 2x7oz. For his breakfast he has either one baby weetabix or baby porridge then toast or a pancake cut into squares. For lunch he has a soft sandwich or cheese on toast and fruit and dinner is whatever we're having. Some days he'll eat loads and still act like he's hungry so I usually give him some more fruit or veg from my portion, other days he's less interested and it ends up on the floor I follow his lead and he stops when he's full.

He's between the 50th and 75th centile for weight and has been since birth.

hope this helps x

Thanks so much girls for your responses. My boy has:

7 am 8 oz bottle
8 am weetabix and then half banana (just added and that seems to make him happier)
12 lunch - today pasta witrh tomato and tuna then fruit/yogurt
2 pm 8 oz bottle
4 pm snack - fruit or biscotti or something
6 pm tea - same sort of thing as lunch
7 pm 8 oz bottle

He is always on the 50th percentile since he was a month old so I guess it's enough! I suppose I'm just worrying about nothing as he seems similar to everyone else and he sometimes doesn't finish his 2 pm bottle like you guys said - maybe that's the one they try and drop next?

Thanks again for all of your advice, I really appreciate it. x

I would say give him a bit more or give him something else with his weetabix, from your schedule it looks like your LO is sleeping through, my LO is the same and he is always most hungry first thing in the mornings, they go a long while without food whilst asleep.

What you are feeding LO looks perfectly fine to me It looks almost the same as ours except my LO has oly 2 bottles.

Oh and when my LO starts messing about with the food or trying to hit the dog with it that's when I know he's had enough.

ETA. Just noticed you added the banana, stick with that if he seems satisfied, he's not overeating.

Sophie eats like a trooper, but she stays steady on the 50th centile!
I just give her stuff until she stops eating, normally when she starts chucking things about she's full.

For lunch she can sometimes have a whole slice of bread with cheese spread or peanutbutter, a whole banana and some mini rice crackers. It sounds like a huge amount for a baby, but I trust if she wants it that its okay for her to have it, as she's not all of the sudden started gaining weight really quickly. Her daddy can eat for 3 people and is super skinny too.

She still nurses 4 times a day and guzzles then too. She just likes to eat!
