WONT eat solids

My LO just will not eat any baby food. He is well over 6 months, breast feeds all the time, and will not sleep for very long at night. I would think that he needs more food in his diet, but he pushes his tongue out very strongly when im trying to feed him his baby foods. I puree my own, have given BLW a chance, and have store bought organic kinds. So every form of food has been tried. Is something wrong with him??? I see all the babies on here and in my family who are his age just cowing down on baby food and I can't even get a spoon full in most times. The exception to this has been avocado. Everything else just ends in a crying match and then he wants to breast feed. Sigh. Im being pressured from his doctor, my family, everyone saying he needs more food but I can't seem to get him to eat.

Anyone else have this experience?

He's clearly not ready or wants to do it his was, my son was similar with tw. It try blw again because it takes a while for them to get the hang of it and for you to work out the best time of day.
I usually attempt part bf first thing, then once we are downstairs I prepare breakfast for us both and eat that, then offer bf after. Then once he's had his nap if he bf just before then once he's come around a bit I offer food then bf or if he went to sleep with no bf then I offer part bf then food then bf.
Is that making any sense?
X

I wouldn't worry too much - he's still only just 6mths. We are BLW and after a week of playing with food he was teething really badly and we kinda fell off the weaning wagon for over a week when all he wanted was boob. When we restarted he seemed to just get it and he was off! He's been properly swallowing some for couple weeks now and is starting to appear to be wanting and satisfied by solid food. But he still loves boob and has no way reduced feeds!

Is he teething? I agree with pp and would maybe just try including him at mealtimes (as much as practical) and offer the odd thing. One day soon he might surprise you! My LO dropped weight while we were struggling to interest him - I know it can be difficult especially when some babies plough through jar after jar. We're so pleased we stuck it out with BLW though.
Good luck

I remember reading one time about A tongue thrust reflex, I think that's what it's called. They have a reflex when they are younger to thrust any foreign object out of their mouth, it usually goes away by 6 months but some are slower to grow out of it maybe take a look?
Ps avocado is amazing for them!

thanks ladies. I feel better knowing its not a serious problem. And I wasn't even certain if solids would knock off any breast feeding sessions. Then again, i've never EVER counted or kept track of what time we breast feed so honestly I probably wouldn't notice. During the night, yes, it would be nice if he would sleep a couple hours but I do believe he is teething badly.

Guess its avocados for a while! Lol

Oh, and kinda of a different kind of question but was just wondering this- for BLWing how do you introduce one certain food for the 4 days? my pediatricia said only one new food per 4 days then on to the next one....

When weaning at 6mths plus that shouldn't be necessary - it was only recommended when early weaning as the gut wasn't mature enough yet and allergies could be an issue...afaik. James has had new foods every day since starting BLW too
