Squash or Juice

I've just been giving LO coled boiled water to drink so far. But this evening when I was still at work OH gave LO diluted squash to drink & said she drunk her drink like never before.

I'm not sure squash is the best thing to be giving though. Should I be giving diluted juice?

I don't know what age they can drink squash but I've been using the water I've been cooking with so it has a flavour. I do know a friend of mine had to have fillings in her baby teeth as her parents gave her too much juice. But I've no idea what quantities are ok.

The only juice I give LO is fresh fruit juice once or twice a week at the most. They dont need juice, even the sugar free versions are bad for their teeth.

Hi, Ive never given my LO ddiluting juice. I know tho you can get cow and gate ones for babies. Some state from 6months and some are from 12 months. Ive never used these as i just use water but once or twice ive added a few teaspoon full of pure apple juice or prune juice into her cup of water. She could have taken it or left it but it was to help with constipation.x

My LO will not drink plain water so I give him very diluted juice and flavoured water with his meals as he is very prone to constipation and not a big milk drinker.

However if your LO WILL drink water I would continue with that as long as you can. If I could get LO to drink only water I wouldn't give him him juice.

Very diluted juice is hardly pepsi or coke or anything like that but it's also unecessary if you can avoid it.

I think I'm going to give mainly water, but some days put some fruit juice with it. Yes it might help with constipation as well!

Sophie had some juice earlier this week for the first time. Might just be something for special occasions, as she's happy to drink water!

I feel like a bad bad mummy because i give my LO very diluted squash I tried for about 6 weeks with water but it was like she was just pretending to drink it to please me! She was starting to have trouble pooing so i put a tiny bit of squash in, just to slightly flavour the water and she drinks no problem now. If i had the choice she would just get water but sometimes you just have to go with what works

Don't feel like a bad mummy. What works for one baby doesn't work for another

I give my son squash too but only the premium ones with no additives/artificial sweeteners he simply would not drink water alone and after 8 months of trying I tried very well diluted juice, again he would not touch this but he will drink water with a tiny drop of squash in, otherwise his diet is extremely healthy so I'm not worried at all xx
