Tax credits

Hello all

Can i be nosey and ask what you get in the way of tax credits.
My partner works full time earning 14500 a year but only taking home 11,000.
I work part time earning about 750 a year :/

We have recieved our child benefit but i was just wondering about tax credits , the calculator says we will recieve approx 45 a week . But surely if thats true people that earn 30,000 upwards must get hardly anything.

Im not too fussed as we are comfortable and im going back to work soon but was just wondering if thats right

Other half is on £23-£25k a year (we base it on 25k just in case - rather them owe us that the other way around!)
I was on £15k a year (now on SMP)
We have 2 kids, our 6yr old we have been getting the minimum for, £9.42 (?? under £10) a week for as long as I can remember (never paid for childcare, mum and dad did it) and our LO who is 16 weeks gets £46 a week.
However, this will change because of a thread I read on here about £100 disregard. I had never heard of it and when I phoned them up and asked they apologised and said we should be getting more £ and will review it.
So we are on £56 a week at the moment.

OH is on 23k and I am p/t on 8k we get £80 a month tax credits. Which is the same as last year when I was on 25k. But when I phoned up they said it wouldn't change because the difference in what we earned wasn't more than £20k. Does that sound right?

I don't think they have a flippin clue what they are doing to be honest - have always thought this.
That is why I don't rely on that money.
I do recall from memory that as soon as my son turned 1 the tax credits dropped loads (odd I think as a older baby is more £ to run than a newborn)...

I've just been on to their helpline and found out that we're not entitled to help with childcare despite hubby being a full time student (and CTC being a valid option on his student loans to cover this) and me only on £12k a year as of Thursday coming. Apparently we both have to working to get the help?! No mention of this anywhere on the student side and all they have said is to go back to SLC! Eerrr hold on,

I really wouldn't rely on them. When I was on SMP we did a calculation and we were on £20k combined and got £20 a week!

There is something about being on SMP and tax credits.
I don't 100% understand it but basically they only take in account the £24 or whatever it is of the £124 a week. They don't need to calculate the first £100.
I finished work 9th April and used up all my holiday for the year before I started my SMP.
SMP began end of May.
So, baby born June and I phoned early July to give my renewal.
Explained situation and lady said for me to calculate what I will earn for the tax year due to being on SMP. So, went away got my payslips added them up on 'normal' pay then as I know I will take the full 39 weeks added that to the total and gave them that.
HOWEVER, after reading about the £100 disregard on here I phonedagain last week, said I thought I had messed up and asked what to do.
Nice guy on the phone asked if my 39 weeks will all be in the same tax year, yes I said, just. So, he said I now need to take away 39 x £100 (£3900) from the figure you gave me and that will be you ACTUAL earnings....(almost half what I initially gave).
He said he would amend straight away, send out info and get new payments set up.
The backdated payments will take about 8 weeks.....

I've had this issue. OH net wages (he is a sub contractor) is £20k. Last year I earned £30k, and this year I estimated £10k (assuming that I work Jan to the end of the tax year) and we exactly the same tax credits (£22 a week).

I rang them and they said its because OH's wages havent changed, and we are only entitled to the basic 'award'. Sounds a load of crap to me but there you go.
