Working tax credits?

Im confused, can i claim working tax credits when LO comes while im on SMP? Getting £90 a week SMP and when i filled out the 'Do i qualify?' form it says Working Tax Credit (less the childcare element of Working Tax Credit) £3512.56

Still majorly confused though.
Ohh and the child tax credit part says: Child Tax Credit £2815.36
Would i be able to apply for the sure start grant once hes here?

yeah, you can claim wtc when LO arrives, Get your tax credit form ready for when baby is born and send it off asap.

Wait until tax credits have sorted your claim before applying for the sure start grant, you'll have 3 months to do this.

My SMP will be £124 a week how come yours differs hun?

We would get £3 a week working tax credit as OH is on too much money so if we do, Ill get the grant but....

I am confused over the Sure Start grant as it says you cant claim if there are any other children in your family. I have 2 step children but they only stay over half the week and we dont claim a penny for them. How would that work, does anyone know?

I thought it was that you could only claim for your first child.. could always ring the helpline and ask about step children.. how old are they hun?
