Child Tax Credits - £98.26?

Hi ladies,

Sorry if this has been answered before - I couldn't find it when I looked... but I applied for CTC about 2 weeks ago, and I just got paid £98.26. I know a letter should come soon, or hope one will come(!) but is this amount the monthly amount I will get?

I'm a bit confused because the woman on the phone said I would be entitled to just over £200 a month, and when asked on the form I requested that I was paid monthly.

I am not working, and my partner has been looking for work since he got made redundant 2 months ago.

Any advice greatly appreciated

You should be getting about £57ish if you have one child? I think this is probably just an initial payment and they will straighten out after a couple of weeks. Give them a call if youre not sure because they will think nothing of just not paying you if you dont ask for it.

Usually the first payment is back dated in some way so it's probably not the full amount. I seem to remember I got a small payment then a large one not long after. It's nearly the end of the tax year too so that might have affected it.

i agree. the 1st payment is normally a back payment and then the you will get a full payment. ctc are quite quick at sending letters so you should have it soon
