I've just finished university

I'm married

I'm pregnant and due end of july

I need to work out how much my husband earnt from april 2011-april 2012- how do I do this? Can he ring up HM rev?

My husband works part time as a teacher (contracted 22 hours a week at £15 per hour, in holidays he doesn't teach obviously, and gets paid £4 for his contracted hours which is deducted from his normal wage as really he gets £19 per hour) he'll have to get a summer job for 6 weeks which is fine, he'll do playscheme. I know you have to work 24 hours to apply for tax credits, but he's only contracted for 22 hours. BUT he has a HUGE amount of paperwork to do before and after work, can we classify this as work even though he doesn't get paid for it? If he doesn't do the paper work, he can't teach but because he has to do the paperwork, he does not have the time to find another job.

This is also a temporary job, we're not sure when it will end, he's covering maternity.


If we can't classify his paperwork hours as an extra two hours work at least (to make it up to 24 hours) it means I will have to go to work as soon as my baby arrives because otherwise- how will we survive?

Along with my student money and his wages, we've been ablt to JUST scrape the barrell. I've now finished uni but no one will employ me as I'm 24 weeks pregnant, what do I do? I don't get anymore student money and my husbands income alone is not enough. He can't give up this teaching job, he's worked hard for it and he wont get another. He's got to finish this year as he's a newly qualified teacher and needs a years exprience to be qualified.

I just don't know what to do?

Can I cam job seekers allowance? I thought you couldnt if you were married?

If I can classify his paper work hours as extra hours- can we claim working tax cedits now?

I want to have maternity leave after the birth- how can I be expected to just go back to work while recovering from a birth?

pretty sure that is has to be contracted hours that count for the 24

you will need to speak to the CAB or job centre about what benefits you are entitled to as it depends on individual circumstances.

You can claim JSA up to a point in pregnancy then change to income support, but not sure when it changes.
