10 months old, BLW, how much milk vs food?

Freya still relies heavily on milk to fill her up and eats for fun 99% of the time. She loves to play with her food and enjoys sitting at the table with us and nearly all of the time eats some food, but not a lot.

She has 40oz+ of formula a day, (6 8oz bottles, 4 in the day, 2 at night).

I want to be fine with this, when I read Gill Rapleys book and various websites I was totally happy with leaving her to take as long as she wants about learning to eat etc. It's just all my friends with babies this age eat more food and have less milk, or are breastfeeding which kinda feels different to me as they get more stuff through the bm that's better for them.

She is good at eating and will eat anything, has been chewing for ages, loves all sorts of stuff. Just doesn't eat loads of it.

My mum is always telling me I don't feed her food that is 'stodgy' enough, or I should be spoonfeeding her, it's awful.

Is anyone else in this situation? Or been here? Just need some reassurance I think.

Just wanted to give you big  hon. You are the one who knows Freya best, ignore your friends and family. Easier said than done I know! Freya's doing so well and is way ahead of Aisling in most of her milestones so I wouldn't worry too much xxx

I can see why you might be unsure about this but I guess the way to look at it is that you're just following Freya. She wants these quantities of milk for a reason and isn't yet ready to make solids her main source of nutrition, although she is perfectly able to do so if she wished.
That's the thing about a baby led approach to weaning, all babies are different, so they'll progress at really different rates.
