Lo suddenly started hating being in the car. Up until a week or two ago she would be soothed by going in the car but now she screams hysterically 😩it's awful, she goes from completely fine before getting in the car, to uncontrollably screaming by the time I get the car started. Even with big bro and/or sis sitting with her, making sure her dummy is in etc. She doesn't want it. I'm starting to feel trapped as I obviously don't want to have her in distress, it tortures every fibre of my being. But at the same time the whole family can't just not go anywhere. She's fine in the car seat in the travel system so it's not that, I know this too shall pass but how do we make it easier on Marianne in the meantime?

What car seat do you have?

Is she a bit squished and ready to have the head hugger/foam insert removed?

When my guys gets a bit fussy it normally means he's not comfortable so I have to readjust his car seat as he grows

Thanks for replying Hun I don't think it's that as she's only upset when actually in the car, she can be in the seat totally fine until the seat goes in the car.

Do you have a mirror for her? It might help her if she can still see you. Otherwise I used to sing to dd1 when she was that age. Endless nursery rhymes untill we got out of the car or she fell asleep. I think it was a bit of a separation anxiety thing for her rather than disliking the car.

My 4 month old started being exactly the same way about a month ago... It's so frustrating, I know.
We have a mirror but it has made no difference.
Sometimes turning the music up somewhat loud in the car helps, I don't know if it distracts him or what but it does help (but only sometimes).
We also have a crinkly book toy that crinkles when he grasps it and that really keeps him at bay, but I don't know if your little one would be interested in toys yet?
Hopefully it's just a phase xxx

You have my total and complete sympathy! My little boy is the same :( he can be put into the capsule happily in the house but as soon as he is in the car all hell breaks loose and it's horrendous. I have a mirror, toys, dummy, removed head padding, altered temps and vents, kids sitting singing, playing white noise through the Bluetooth in car, and anything else I can possibly think of with no improvement. I am basically a prisoner in my own home mon-fri and only go out on weekends when DH is home as I just can't take it:cry: if we have to go somewhere I just grit my teeth and try and get there asap. If you find a solution I'd love to hear it.

The only thing that has worked in the car for us is actually attaching a crib soother to the car seat that ds can look at and zone out on in the car
