Since yesterday I have started brown spotting. I noticed some spotting a few weeks ago but it was nothing comparing what I see now. Every time when I wipe. I could not sleep at night. And it’s Sunday and I don’t know what to do. I texted me Midwife but haven’t got any reply yet. I had a scan 2 days ago and everything was fine. So why do I spot?

Sorry to hear you are having this added stress.

I am a midwife so didn't want to read and run. Can I ask if you have done anything strenuous or had sexual inter course over the last fews days. The cervix has alot of blood vessels and probe to bleeding during pregnancy the same as your gums and nose for example. The fact it is brown indicates old blood. As long as its not accompanied by pain etc try to drink lots and rest as much as you can. Maybe if it continues contact midwife and check fir uti. But as easy as it is to say, I am not worried at all

Hi I’ve had a lot of miscarriages and my bleeding with them was bright red and heavy. Brown blood is old.
with my last pregnancy I had spotting on and off from 14do untill around 8 weeks. Was only when wiping. I also had a bleed at 6 weeks and another bleed with cramping at 14+5 weeks. It turned out I had a small cervical erosion. I really hope your spotting stops because I know how scary and worrying it is seeing any blood in pregnancy.
if your bleeding does get worse or u get pain I would for sure speak to your midwife or Doctor just to be on the safe side.

Was your scan internal? That can cause spotting. I’ve had it with 2 of my 4 babies and everything was ok :hugs:

Hi, thank you for your all replies. Thankfully spotting has completely gone. I talked to few people who agreed that it was common in pregnancy and it was an old blood.

Thank you for your reply. Fortunately spotting has gone completely after few days. I did not do any exercises and did not have sex (I used to be extremely active, danced and performed but I stopped as I was worrying to do exercises or sex during first trimester). However I had a scan 2 days before spotting and the doctor asked me to jump a lot.
Now I know that it was an old blood. Thank you again.
