17 month old waking every half an hour crying

Is this some kind of sleep regression again? I thought I was passed it now! He's fine in the daytime. He has one nap in the afternoon and then his night time sleep.

He's waking literally every 30 minutes crying. I give him his soother but most of the time he rejects it, and when I pick him up to sing him to sleep when he's crying hysterically, he just screams. He doesn't like any position I hold him in, and if I lay him back into his cot, he screams even more to the point where he cant scream any harder.

Why is he doing this? He's definately not hungry...i really don't know

It could be that he's getting his molars or he could have an ear infection? Have you tried elevating one end of his mattress or giving him some Tylenol about a half hour before bed? Try getting your finger in his mouth to check for teething and if it's not that keep an eye on him to see if he is pulling on his ears. Those are the only two things I can think of so hopefully some others will have more possibilities for you. Good luck, you must be one tired mama!

Yes I am! And yes, he has been teething for a while now...all 4 of his molars have already cut through the gum though, so I'm not sure. Also, he often pulls his ears, I've taken him to get checked and the DR just said that kids do that when they're teething. Thanks for the suggestions hun x

So wait the doctor didn't look in his ears? Yes, kids will pull on thier ears while teething but the swelling of thier gums during teething could also cause an ear infection. I know this because my youngest is battling a double ear infection right now that started when he started teething again. In fact, each time he has teethed he has gotten an ear infection. If your doc didn't actually look in his ears I would take him back and have him checked again.
