Hi, I have my first ante-natal class on Wednesday and in my leaflet it says it's just about Information on Benefits etc. But I've never been to a class before and I'm a little nervous to be honest! I'm taking my partner..

What do they usually involve? Will I just have to sit there and listen? I'm not one that likes to do loads of talking, so I'm hoping I won't have to get up and speak to anyone on my own in front of the whole class?? lol.

My nhs classes were not great - I learned more online or from books.

It was good to go along as it was local, and good to see other women my age about to have their first babies.

I find it strange that your first class is about 'benefits'??? Most classes are actually about labour/birth etc.

And the classes I went to, noone took OH's so do call in advance to check whether other men will be there- am sure your OH will not be happy if its all women!!

No, you will not be expected to stand up and do anything!!

Enjoy!

I have mine start in 2 weeks time!:flower:

Ah thank you! You have put my mind at ease a little! I'm a very shy person and hate being forced into things lol.

I know I'm a bit disappointed to be honest because I'm sure it's going to be a little boring. The next one is about basic baby care etc but the one I REALLY want to go to (labour, pain relief etc) is 2 days before I'm due!!!! So I'm a bit gutted about that :(

These are all free classes run by the local Children's Centre. I rang up beforehand and luckily I can take OH :) x
