well we got back from 11 nights in cyprus on monday and it was fantastic. i was so worried about flying with imogen and my worst fear was burning her (myself and OH burn easily so was sure it would happen) but both were fine. at the airport i took 2 bottles and pouches of food, i only had to try the water in the bottles (you only have to try 50% so that saved me having to open the pouches), she carried on something chronic before boarding the flight so was thinking she'd be like it through the flight, but she fell asleep during the ride to the runway so was asleep for take off (with dummy in) and was great on the flight and fine with landing (ear wise). coming home we were flying midnight their time and imogen would normaly be asleep by then, before boarding i took her to the baby room got her in her pjs and fed her and again she was good and fell asleep on the plane before take off and woke an hour before we landed. at cyprus they didnt even look at bottles or food, they were very laid back.

on holiday she was fine with the heat and it was very warm, we had air con at the holtel so took her back for dinner and a nap and again later on in the day to give her a break from the heat. we kept her routine as it was at home as they are only 2 hours ahead and it was really easy to do it that way and worked out well. she loved swimming everyday didnt burn her once ha ha, the only time she was in the sun was in the pool but only her factor 50'ed lower arms would see the sun with her swim suits and sun hat on, and (proud mummy moment) she started pulling herself up to stand, crawl properly, and walking when you hold her hands while we were there woo hoo, although now shes a nightmare, even when you think the floor is clear she always manages to find something small to put in her mouth!! ha ha.

so all in all we had a great time, plus managed to get some baby making time in so we'll see what happens there. my best friend got engaged while we were away and shes asked me to be maid of honour, and is looking at marrying abroad in 2012 at the moment so our next holiday (if we have a baby next year we wont go away) will be for that so excited already lol.

sounds fab... I'm really nervous about taking LO abroad, especially about keeping to some kind of routine. Sound slike you managed really well though. Well done for not getting anyone burn't.

Would you recommend that I wait until LO is weaned before taking her abroad?

xx

Were going to portugal on sunday and this has made me feel alot better about the flight thank you we fly at 6am so doing same changing from jamas to cloths and a feed just before take off etc, good thing about faro is same time as here for routine xxx

LO has been on three trips; the first was when she was 3 months, the second at 5 months and recently two weeks ago. I was still exclusively breastfeeding with the first two trips and found it extremely easy to travel with her... Infinitely more than the last one which required much more planning and preparation. For the first two I only had to pack a muslin square for feeds (to cover up). No one gave me any grief or paid me any undue attention if I had to feed her on the plane or at the airport. And, certainly in my case, the younger she was, the better she travelled.

thanks for this im travelling to cyprus as my family are from there, so we want to introduce lo to everyone, but we are going in october- this made me feel heaps better and more confident, sounds like you had a lovely time xxx

i really was dreading it before we went i was worrying mainly about her routine and what shed be like on the flight but it really was ok, i was really suprised. im definatly more confident with this sort of thing in the future now.

sazzorie after taking a weaned baby abroad i think id cope just as well with a fully BF/FF baby just as easy. just keep all her feed times the same e.g. imogen wakes about 6-6.30 for her morning feed but this was 8-8.30 with time difference so in a way it was like she was getting up later and going to bed later all her feeds and meals and naps were 2 hours later but really she was in the same routine as she was at home. i think it'll be fine taking your LO before she is weaned and in a way easier cause you wont have to take all her meals with you.

glad you had a great time! We're off to crete in morning with 10 week old :)
