After waiting until 37+ wks to commence my mat leave, I went to my OB appt. yesterday where it was discovered my BP is raised and I have symptoms of Hypertension. My OB asked if I was still working to which I replied that I just started my mat leave. She said 'Good thing, as I'd be signing you off of work!'.

She's advised me to put my feet up and have complete R&R. Of course I'm worried about the situation but also disappointed that all the last minute stuff I put off until mat leave will not be getting done by me. I really looked forward to lots of walks, house cleaning and baby preparations.

So for now, I'm being closely monitored and if the situation worsens I'll be having a C-section soon to deliver baby, as they won't induce me due to a prior C.

Is anyone else experiencing Hypertension? If so, what is your OB/Midwife doing about it?

I'm not sure if its the same thing but I have high blood pressure, ended up in hospital on Wednesday and put on blood pressure tablets, luckily it has come down and came out yesterday but they did talk about inducing me if they couldn't control it.

I have to see mw tomorrow, wed and fri and then back at hospital on monday, if goes back up they may look at inducing me. They have never mentioned complete bed rest to me but I guess thats because I am not on tablets.

Sorry for long post..... I hope your mw keeps an eye on you too and that eveything is ok hun x

Hiya.

I had pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy and had an emergcny c-section at 29 weeks...this time around I have avoided that, but have hypertension, which has been treated with tablets for the last 4 weeks, which seem to be keeping my blood pressure in order.

I was hoping for a VBAC also, but that is out of the window now, baby is still frank breech, and with an anterior placenta and a previous section scar, now the high blood pressure and the probability they will be delivering me at 36 weeks it is looking like I am having another section.

I see my midwife weekly for blood pressure checks, and I have the consultant this coming tuesday to discuss delivery etc.

Hope you are managing to rest up :flower:

Thanks ladies for your posts. I have an OB appt. on Wednesday and if the situation has worsened I'm going to request a C-Section ASAP. My little guy is fully developed and I'd rather he be born healthy than risk his health for the sake of having a successful VBAC.

So for now, I'm just doing my best to take it easy.
