This year my son and i are doing 2 Christmas's but his real Christmas is going to be on boxing day.. for the next 4 years in a row DH is going to be working Christmas day.. he tried to get it off this year but too many people booked it off before him so he was unable to book it off.. and next year we will be doing it on Christmas eve.. he is still to young any way to know whats going on.. but when he starts to get older i am hoping DH will be able to book time off for Christmas, maybe by booking it off in January or something lol! anyways how its going to work this year is we are going to my moms from the 23rd of December tell the 25th.. DH will be home Christmas night.. at around 830.. than we will do Christmas boxing day (a proper Christmas) :)

is any body else having 2 Christmas's? :flower:

We're not hun but I do feel for you and DH. My parents always worked when I was younger. (my dad has had 2 christmases off in my lifetime) he must have felt awful about it but if i'm totally honest I never noticed as I was too busy with my new things

I think having 2 christmases is lovely though x

i think it would be possible for him to take it off if he asked at the beginning of the year but since he waited tell so late everyone else booked it off and he was stuck working :( but maybe next year.

I think with these things you really have to book it off within ten minutes of being back at work after new year lol! My BIL is a fireman and their team (correct term?!) have a rule that until your children are 10 years old you get every Christmas off, but after that you work every Christmas so the guys with younger ones can have it off. Works quite well but it does mean they have to do christmas on boxing day now - the girls never seem to mind!

We're having 2 Christmases! Only because we are spending actual Christmas Day with DH parents then going to my parents on 28th Dec and we'll have another small Christmas Day really just for Millie. :) its difficult when our parents live so far from each other. X

Oh no why does he have to work Christmas Day for the next 4 years? Surely they can't be booked that far in advance?!

DH always books the week between Christmas and new year off as soon as he gets back to work in January.

They don't open Christmas Day or Boxing Day anyway and the rest of tge time he would just work from home but he'd rather not work at all in the Christmas break.

Hopefully if your DH books it early in January he can have it off?

:hugs: that sounds lovely hun! hope he manages to get it off next year

We're having two Christmas's also =) We'll celebrate here in California with my parents and brother and then we fly to visit DH's family over the actual holiday. I'm OK with it this year since LO is so small but as she gets bigger I hope our family can come to us!

its just the way his work schedule works out that he will be on work the next 4 Christmases in a row which really sucks.. but i think he can get Christmas day off if he books it off say in January.. But for right now we are fine to do it the way we are as DS is only 2 any how so he doesnt really no yet.. and it just means he gets extra presents thats all :winkwink: as if he isnt spoiled enough hehe. I mean DH will be home christmas night so if we really and truly wanted to do christmas on christmas with DH it would just have to be at like 9pm haha. but we figure well whats one day any how.. and he gets spoiled from my mum this year we havent had a chirstmas with my mum yet its always been at our place.. So this year i think will work out really well.. and now i have it all planned out im actually pretty excited for it :flower:

We have 3!!!!!
Christmas day at our house with brothers and sisters family and my mum who flies in Christmas morning from Florida, boxing day at the in laws and then Christmas at my dads on the 28th

We love it means we can drag it out abit longer and Chloe's presents get spread out a bit.

Hope u have a lovely 2 Christmas's :)

wow 3? you sound very busy! haha but that sounds awesome too.. very good way to spread it all out :)

My dh will be working every Christmas Day for the foreseeable future due to his line of work, we get him in the morning until 9 and we get him back hopefully around 6 pm...we are going do pressies in the morning. I am thinking they will be so chuffed they won't even notice daddy going and then will be doing a proper christmas dinner when he gets back..... He works all Christmas Eve too but hoping w can do some really good gearing up for christmas stuff. For eg, I have made Christmas Eve boxes for te kids for dh to give to them with lots of Christmassy stuff in it ...hoping to make that a bit of a tradition!

that sounds awesome :) im glad im not the only one that has a DH working on christmas
