So DH and I are expecting our first and are looking at baby junk. He's a marathoner and wants a nice jogger, but since we're planning on having more we don't necessarily want to spend a wad on a single. We looked on Craigslist and found a 2010 BOB jogger (retailer at the time for $400) for $100 in a nice part of town. Doesn't look too used. Would you use a five year old jogger/stroller? I can't personally imagine the safety standards have changed much since then but I honestly don't know much about it. Figured the babies forum would be a better place to ask than pregnancy :) thanks!

I only had three things on my list that I felt shouldn't be bought used (crib/mattress, car seat and a stroller). I did buy a used stroller and, while it didn't look too used, there were minor annoying problems (e.g. at some point it started turning to the right by itself while I was going straight) so I ended up buying two more different strollers and barely used the one I bought in the beginning. It was just too old. I would invest in a good solid stroller, especially for your first since you'll end up using it with your second anyway and we used ours 2-4 days a week.

The pushchairs that I've bought second hand have been big mistakes and they weren't even 5 years old. I'll always buy new in the future x

I bought used and I'm satisfied but it was a Stokke Xplory less than 3 years old. I didn't plan on using it much and it's a light use stroller anyway (as in you don't run with it). I mostly use it to carry baby stuff and shopping while I have my baby in the wrap. If you want something to use in the future, better buy new or at least newer model and very lightly used.

We're going all out with the regular stroller but in terms of the jogger we just don't want to spend too much on a single for now. Guess we'll look around :) can't afford a $500 jogger though with everything else we're spending loads on!

They are a decent brand. Yea I would buy a secondhand one happily. I bought a 10 year old mountain buggy last year and it was fabulous.

I would take a look at it before discounting it. It's possible the person who has it didn't used it that much, and it's also possible that since it's expensive they took good care of it. I'd have no problem buying a used jogger as long as I could test it out first.
