mason is 22 months and isnt intrested in being potty training at all i must have tryed about 4 times now and he just dosnt want to do it does anyone have any suggestions he starts pre school part time after summer and really need him clean for them its costing me a fortune in nappies nwith him and shannonin them x x

my lo just turned 2 and still shows no next to no interest in using the potty. he will sit on it occassionally with clothes on, but not without.

tbh im not concerned tho, he will let me knoww when he is ready, it just isnt yet :)

thats what i thought but then people keep telling me hes late should be potty trained by now hes three in may and he has to be clean by the time he starts pre school in september x

I think he's still pretty young, Hannah is just coming up on 20 months and doesn't seem anywhere near ready to me yet

ive just relised ive put his age wrong lol baby brain hes 2year and 10months he will be three in may x

Brennan could care less about the potty. I try to talk to him about it, but he just doesn't get it. Boys potty train later than girls in my experience. I worked daycare long ago and girls would potty train around 2 and boys were closer to 3.

you could try the method a friend just did. She had 3 days where she didn't have to work, or go anywhere. So she took her daughters diaper off and just let her run around the house naked. This allowed her daughter to see and obviously feel what was happening, and she quickly learned to go to the potty.

ive tryed that already hun he just thinks its funny then when he wees on poos on the floor it might sound horrible but ive even tryed when he has a accident on the floor only wee though that he helps me clean it but still no intrest at all x

when i worked in a nursery, there were still children 3.5 years old who weren't fully potty trained or were still very much in nappies or pull ups. They do all learn at different ages and boys seem to be more stubborn with potty training than girls. I guess that its just a case of leaving the potty out somewhere where he can see it.
Does he tell you when he is going or has been to the toilet? I'm considering with Noah when he shows signs of being ready of missing the potty out all together and putting him stright onto the toilet! At Masons age maybe tht would be the way around it? making him feel like a big boy and doing it on the big toilet?

My son finally was completely trained around 3.5. Before that he had absolutely no interest. The potty was just a toy for him so we re-directed him towards using the toilet, with a little seat to place on top of the normal one so he doesn't fall in. He refused to pee in the toilet until he saw his father do it a few times. Then he did it.. standing up. THere was no peeing sitting down for him.

Pooing took more work and definately needed a reward. But we eventually got it. Shortly after he was fully potty trained, we got rid of the pull ups at night too. After almost five to six months, he never had a nightime accident and only two daytime accidents.

It took a while but we are really proud of him. We needed to wait until HE was ready and then it worked.

Maybe story books about other children using the potty would get him more interested in giving it a try himself.

thanks ladies i think i may try stright on the big toilet as i said he has no intrest in his potty at all x x
