I'm posting this for a friend, she's just been to the mw and been measured 40cm when she is only 29 weeks!
She has an appointment for a scan but its not for another 5 weeks.
A few weeks ago she had a pre-e scare but apparently her BP etc are fine now, she's had bloods and everything done so no pointers for GD.

I think if she's measruing that much bigger she should be scanned asap, what do you think? I've suggested she go over the mw head and straight to the consultant. She's had alot going on this pregnancy (this is her 4th baby) as around the time of conception she'd just had treatment for pre-cancerous cells and had to have some of her cervix cut away so she's at risk of pre-term labour anyway without the added factor of the baby being massive!

Any thoughts?

I was found to be measuring 34/35 weeks at my 28 week MW appt. My MW called straight through to the antenatal clinic and got me an appointment for a scan a week later (This Friday). 5 weeks is far too long to wait. i would tell your friend to call antenatal and ask for the appointment to be bought forward to as soon as possible.

Failing that tell her to go to A&E saying that she is in a lot of pain. They'll do a scan and see what is going on.

I hope everything goes well and it all gets sorted. Sending lots of :hugs: and love.

Sorry I have no advice but I'm in a similar position, I'm also having my 4th and measured 34 weeks @ 29 weeks. I've had big babies in the past and I'm quite tall, the midwife seemed unconcerned. No mention of growth scan. I've seen threads on here with people measuring 2/3 weeks ahead being sent for growth scans straight away. I am really surprised that your friend has to wait so long for an appointment. My midwife did comment that my baby didn't feel that big, maybe your friend is similar and has a lot of excess water.

Last week she was only measuring a week or 2 ahead so something's not right for it to jump 10cms in a week!!

Whats she gonna be like in 5 more weeks, 90cms?? ok unlikely but who knows!

I too was in a similar position to your friend, 4th pregnancy measuring well ahead early on. MW explained to me that it could be a bigger baby and/or the fact that as it was my 4th pregnancy you have a tendancy to show earlier...

I did catch up with the bump as time went on, however now back to measuring in ahead by a couple of weeks, had to have another scan anyway as bump is still so solid MW couldn't find the position of baby. Baby isn't bigger than my other babe's and is in the correct position of labour...

I think that as I have a toddler, body has more fluid around baby to offer a little more potection from a bouncing, jumping, climbing busy toddler who has no awareness of personal space or boundaries... LOL

Hope all works out well for your friend, in all fairness try not to get too worried... I got quite nervous/apprehensive about the possiblity of a large baby, now I'm quite calm about the forth coming labour...
