This is a question primarily for those who've used a birthing ball in labour before. I had a very long drawn-out and painful first stage of labour with my first and she didn't engage until I was in established labour. I am now nearly 38 weeks with my second and am considering getting a birthing ball in the hope it will help get the baby engaged and in a good position in these final weeks and also that it will be useful to sit/ rock on during contractions. I wasn't going to bother initially as I know birthing balls are provided at the hospital but, having thought further about it, due to the fact that we are struggling to find anyone to look after our LO (20 months), I am really hoping to be able to stay at home for as long as possible before transferring to hospital. So my question is really- do you think it is worthwhile buying a ball now or have I really left it too late to be of any use?

i would def say get one! they are not expensive - i got mine for 4.99 from one of those bargain home stores. Plus the bigger kids have a lot of fun with it afterwards!

Yes I would agree u need to get one n start bouncing !! X

my son had a spacehopper that i used lol, not just for labour but a few weeks before, just cos i like bouncing on it, and was egging baby to get in the right position.

have to say though, when i did go into labour i spent my time at home on my feet, never went near it.
its always handy to have though, if you feel you will use it at home!
xx

Yep get one! I've got one and it's great to sit on, because I can't get off the sofa easily so if I sit on the sofa to have a rest whilst I'm tidying etc, I usually dint get back up! :haha:

i have one and love it, its great to sit on, bounce on, sway on.... oh and bouncing on it has helped shift my trapped wind... godsend! MW at ante natal class suggested we use one

i will be taking mine to the hospital with me... without a doubt

also they help sooth baby afterwards sitting on it bouncing......

NOOOO, dont get a birthing ball - get an excersize ball! Exactly the same, and a fraction of the price! They make a great foot rest too :haha:

yes get one :) i would sit on mine to help corey turn as he was back to back. and i used it during labour. labour was really quick this time at just under 4 hours, i had a homebirth so didnt need to worry about going to hospital lol so just be careful how long u stay home.

mines a exercise ball

Also i found it great to throw at OH when he pisses me off :haha:
