3 week old has bad breath!

Are babies supposed to get bad breath? I 'brush' her gums with a finger brusher and some infant toothpaste-like stuff every few days but it doesn't help. It just smells kind of like bad milk i guess. Her nose has been stuffy since she was born and I read that breathing through their mouths can cause bad breath, so is that what this is? Anyone else been through this and know how to fix it?

not really sure... my LO's breath always smells a bit milky.. not always 'fresh' milk but I wouldn't call it 'bad' breath.

Lots of babies spit up frequently but swallow it back down.. so it might be spit-up that you're smelling? I don't think I'd worry about it unless its a really strong horrible smell.

Bad breath is one of the signs of reflux. Does your LO have any 'colicky' type symptoms or throwing up a lot?
