My son goes to daycare and they nap from 12-2 but sometimes he doesn't fall sleep till after 1 and they leave him sleeping when everyone else is up, I have come in at 2:40 and he is the only one sleeping. They told me it was because he sleeps in but he is always up before 8-8:30ish most days around 7:30
anyway I told them I do not want him sleeping past 2,and I don't like the idea him laying there awake for over an hour...

does your 3 yr old still nap? and for how long?

Omar doesn't take a nap anymore unless he wakes up too early. He will only nap if he sleeps less than 9 hours at night, or when we're in the car, he will take a catnap for 20-30 mins

Thomas still has a nap every day - he goes to bed at 1 and I get him up at 3. Sometimes he sleeps the whole two hours, sometimes only an hour because it takes him an hour to fall asleep. He did go about a week without naps but he wasn't able to cope and was seriously overtired and cranky.

However, I think that daycare should respect your wishes and get your son up at 2 with the others if that is what you wish.

My oldest is like a robot. He doesn't sleep. I don't know how he does it. He goes to bed at 7pm and he won't go to sleep until way gone 10pm at the earliest in the meantime I have screaming banging tantrums and him playing with and hurting my other LO (17 months). He wakes up anytime between 4am and 6.30am refuses to go back to sleep and wakes my other LO up and he refuses to nap in the day. I was woke up at 4.30am this morning to them having a squealing competition..Not screaming just going AHHH AHHH AHHHH at each other to see who could do it the loudest..Sleeping this little with a newborn..Understandable..Still being like this at nearly 4 is ridiculous!

OMG rome havnt seen you on here in forever!!

My LO only naps if he is really tired like been to the park/swimming/up early etc, and only falls asleep in his pram. I let him sleep for 15 mins tops and its plenty, just sort of recharges his batteries :haha: If i let him sleep any longer he will be grumpy and want to sleep on, or be hard to get to sleep that night.
x

Ruby doesn't nap, dropped it just before 3, although she hadn't napped on nursery days for a while. She does go off in the car sometimes though.

Ben dropped his nap around a month ago. Before then he slept for around 2 hours.
He used to have an hour at nursery. But they always woke him up by 3pm. X

Tom is down to 2 naps a week now. Basically he has no naps Mon - Fri but has an hour or so on both Sat and Sun. He falls asleep in the car around 2pmish and we move him to the sofa when we get home.

When he has a nap he doesn't go to sleep till about 8.30pm but without its 7.30pm. he's really close to dropping it altogether now I reckon.

ETA: when he was napping at nursery they'd get him up at 2pm with the others so if he didn't fall asleep till 1.30pm then he only got 30mins. I preferred that to leaving him sleeping on his own and him missing out on things.

Charlie stopped napping at nursery ages ago but occasionally will still have one at home or like today - in Ikea!!

So jealous, DS stopped napping at 18 months! :nope:

Here's hoping DD will still be at 3!

My DD naps at 1, but only for about 45 mins to an hour. She goes to in-home daycare 3 days/week, and naptime there is at 1 also, but if she hasn't gone to sleep in an hour, they get her back up and she just doesn't have a nap that day. I think the daycare should respect your wishes and get him up at 2 with everyone else.

My DD napped until she was almost 3. She used to have a 2 hour nap in the afternoon.

DS1 and DS2 never napped though really though they would occasionally fall asleep in the car on a long trip (DS2 still does this but it's kinda rare now).

thanks everyone! hopefully daycare works with my wishes, :) was just wondering if it was outrageous for me to request for them to not let him sleep long.

Nooo^^ hes your child they should respect your wishes!!

My 3 year old dropped her nap a very long time ago - she sleeps 7pm-7am - if she had a nap then she wouldnt go to bed until so much later and her routine would be up the spout.

It's easier for the nursery if children sleep - this is often the times staff have lunch breaks - if you dont want your child to sleep tell them if you only want him to sleep for X amount of time then its the nursery who has to follow your wishes it is anything but outrageous of you to request it x

Lol at Charlie in ikea that's so cute! My son has fallen asleep sat up in a trolley was too funny! My son generally doesn't nap anymore apart from maybe on the weekend if he got up early! Or the occasional catnap in the car on a long journey :). Before he turned 3 if he was stil awake 45 mins ish after I put him down for a nap id just get him back up instead :)

Sam stopped about a month ago and Fynn last week xxxx

Max dropped all naps by the age of 2. He might have 1 every 2 weeks if we have been busy and he is in the buggy/car.

When he started creche his naps were different to everyone elses. They just let him nap when he wanted and played with him when the others were alseep. I think the nursery should respect your wishes. I don't think it is fair to expect him to lie there for an hour while the others sleep. They could maybe put him down at 1pm and let him back up at 2.

So jealous of everyone who have LO's that still nap past 2!
