Me and my husband have been currently ttc our first baby.. since my last misscarriage back 3 years ago before we got married.. I have had scans done to check if i can ever have kids.. Main thing is is that came back clear.. But seriously why is it taking us so long to fall pregnant.. i enjoy sex but its becoming to breaking point atm :(.. We have tried everything...

Anyone got any suggestions for us??

You mentioned you had scans...what else have you had done? A basic fertility workup will usually consist of:

CD3 blood test
CD21 blood test
SA for husband

That will test your hormone levels, if you're ovulating, and if DH's sperm are ok.
If all of that is clear, they should do a HSG test to see if your tubes are clear. If that is the case, Clomid is usually the next step! Unfortunately, just having scans won't really tell you too much other than if they see any follicles or not.

I second what the previous poster said. There might be more they can do to find physical issues that can be fixed pretty easily.

We were TTC for 2 years before they did a dye test to see if my tubes were opened. Turned out they were both blocked, but they were able to open one by pushing more dye through. We got pregnant a couple months later!

I also am wondering what "scans" have you had.
Simple internal ultrasounds will not check for many things that could be wrong.
Have you gone to a FS yet or tried any of the prescribed medications like Clomid etc??

I completely feel for you, it is very hard LTTTC especially when you are classified and unexplained.

Hiya... bassically i had scans to show my progesterone levels, check to see if i was ovulating.. and checked to see if i had any problems concieving.. I think i may have to get my self to a fertility clinic x

I've asked my gp for clomid.. and they won't prescribe it too me as no problems for concieving :(

Hun, the only way you can tell progesterone levels is with a blood test. A scan
won't show that I'm afraid. Have your HSG before you do clomid
just to make sure your tubes are open.

I think you need to discuss with your Dr the next steps you should take in order to be referred to a fertility specialist.
I still dont understand how your DH cannot provide a sperm sample for a simple test but none the less you should see if you can talk to your Dr about taking the next steps.

They normally will not give you clomid if your blood work comes back showing you are ovulated and they have done nothing else. Blood work alone will not tell you if you can conceive. It will only advise if you are ovulating during your cycle.

I had a blood test done a few months ago to see if i was ovulating.. came back i was ovulating.. It's just annoying that my gp won't do anything.. clearly shows she doesnt care at all. x

My regular OB/GYN referred me after an HSG (hubby had already gone to a Urologist to check things out with him) to a Reproductive specialist, as she thought that our only option with one tube blocked and no swimmers found on his biopsies that straight to IVF was our only option...luckily the doctor thinks we can still do this with minimal technology. We had the normal stuff first, though. DH did two SA's (since the first one came back with no sperm present results, which turned out to be correct and not "contaminated" as they thought), they drew blood and checked LH, progesterone, thyroid, glucose, etc., asked if the OPKs were showing positives, and then for the HSG (uncomfortable, but worth it for the results). Sometimes it can be a factor in one partner, and sometimes its a combination of both, like us.

I didnt do Clomid my first IUI, and we werent going to do for the second either, but my thought was "oh, hey, if there is only one tube that can be accessed, then if it isnt ovulating on that side this time, its like throwing my donor sample in the trash...so can we do the Clomid this cycle and see if we have a L side winner?" this time around we did...and im keeping hopeful that we have success, because man, Clomid combined with the Novarel trigger makes me a whimpery weepy mess more than PMS ever did! I dont know if the Clomid prompted the L to O when it wouldnt have normally, or if it would have anyway, but the Ultrasound confirmation is what made it worth it...as long as you dont mind giving yourself an intramuscular shot in the bottom... :haha:

the only option i have is either going back to my gp or going to a fertility clinic and speak to them! x
