Does this mean I will go into labour early or can baby just engage early. This is my first pregnancy. The midwife didn't mention it, I saw it in my notes.

Apparently most first time mums are usually fully engaged by about 36 weeks... and then go overdue :(

Babies can engage early and you can still go over due :( if you saw it in your notes it probably means 4/5th palpable, which means the midwife can feel 4/5th of the babies head outside the pelvis. my midwife writes this in the columb that says Eng at the top.

Looks like I got my wires crossed. It says 4/5 palp and I assumed it meant 4/5 engaged. Doh!!!

Hi, 5/5 is not engaged at all then it goes down 4/5, 3/5, 2/5, 1/5, 0/5.

So 4/5 means that only 1/5 of the head is engaged so 4/5 to go! A bit confusing.

My little girl never went lower than 2/5 when my waters went, and i had a fast 3 hr labour at 38+6.

I have seen MW this morning and i said that i thought his head was enagaged due to all the shooting pains i have been getting in my bits. His head is sat on the tip of my pelvis but she reckons as i can feel these pains on and off that he is slipping in and out, which makes sense to me.

At the end of the day baby will come when its ready no matter when they are suppose to come on paper.

They reckon the more relaxed you are the higher chance you have of going into labour x

I was 3/5 engaged last week at 33 weeks - so does that mean that she can still feel 2/5 of the babies head? this is my fourth baby so not sure what diff that will make!
