I have an ovary reserve of a 50+ year old. I went for a HSG on August 30 and the dye would not go past the uterus. Dr believes my tube had a spasm. Oh and I only have 1 tube, right tube was removed with uterine horn years ago. I asked the Dr if we could try to open the tube with HSG and recanalization and he said we could do that but my biggest problem is my AMH level. So today I was at the clinic to see if I could have my AMH level retested he said we could do that but since my levels were so low before my chances of having a higher number is not good. So I am stuck on what I should do. Should I try the HSG again and see about getting my tube open and go on fertility shots or should I just stop now and consider adoption? I know my mind keeps telling me to keep going and see what will happen after they get my tube open and see how the 7 shots will work for my eggs at $100 a shot. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks Heather

I think i would go for the shot and try to increase my AMH level since the doc said that was his biggest concern. It's a hard decision to make i'm sure. Just compare the pros and cons of both. :dust:

Hi hon - it certainly sounds like things are stacked against you.
If your AMH is so low (mine is considered low at
2-3 ish) it's a very good indicator that your egg reserves
are very low, but also (according to my FS) that the quality of the ones you have left is also low.
So, sorting the tube out and shots to get eggs released feels like a bit of a long shot.

You've talked about a final go or looking into adoption and I guess my thoughts are: if they were my only 2 choices I'd take the long shot before trying to adopt ....

But, I was wondering if you'd considered IVF with donor eggs as another option - that way neither your ovarian reserves nor tube is important.
I was faced with slim odds using my own eggs or the same odds as anyone else using donor eggs. Given the money involved I decided not to waste any on a long shot!

£100 per shot for 7 shots, and whatever work on your tube is needed, will stack up. If you are able to consider donor eggs it might be worth putting that money towards the cost.

Not sure if this has been helpful or not - but it might be an avenue to explore xxx

I've just re-read that and it sounds kinda harsh - and I didn't mean it to be x

what I was trying to say is:
if you only have the 2 options, I'd spend the money on the tube and shots and see if I could get my body working
but if there was a third option of donor eggs open to me, I would spend my money on that instead as low reserves means the other way is a long shot

I really wish you luck with whatever you decide.
