I guess maybe this is a god thread to jump in on.. I've been lurking aroung the site for a few weeks, but this is my first post. I am 39, will be 40 in October. I have a son, 11 and oh has a daughter, 2. Now we want to make a baby together, and have been trying (or not preventing) since May. There is a lot of negativity out there about conceiving at my age, and I'm trying to stay postive and keep it fun. I'm glad to see a few other mature ladies who want to make it happen too. Good luck and baby dust to you all.

welcome and HI!
I'm Csunshine and I just turned 39 and DH is 32 we just celebrated our 1st anniversary last Sunday. We have been pregnant twice in the last 6 months and I have on DD from a previous relations who is 10yrs old.

I have a cousin who had her last baby when she was 38 so it can happen! FXD and loads of DUST!

hello everyone!

thanks again for the posts. welcome to all the new ladies. :hugs:

i'm in the beginning of the tww.

i'm super-aware of every little twinge (or some not so little). can't really tell. i know some women say, "i knew immediately". not me.

i think i ov'd about 2 days ago and am supposed to get af sept. 11th. if af does come, i hope she doesn't arrive before 9/11 b/c that could mean a short luteal phase :( so, here's to 9/11 becoming a happy/+ day for me (and all those testing on or around the same day.

:bfp: and :dust: to you all.

I am also due my af on the 11th vkj! I am gonna try not to test til then.
Im not really feeling any symptoms, except that my sciatic nerve (I assume) aches. Its never ached before. I googled it (as you do) and this can be a symptom, but usually AFTER a bfp. Therefore that kinda leaves me with nothing to write home about on the symptom front. Still, my poor obsessed head knows that having no symptoms can also be a symptom. Arggghhh! 5 dpo is NOT my happy place ha ha xx

thanks chubbin. i feel like i weave in and out of feeling twinges and not. i just really hope it's not af, esp. b/c that would mean i have a short lp.

sooo good to not feel alone. chin up everyone!!! you never know, you just never know.:hugs:

:dust:

I'm 38 for another 2 months still! OH is 42. I have two children from a previous relationship, DD9 and DS6. We are trying for OH first child. I fell pregnant first cycle after stopping the pill last May, unfortunately miscarried in June. The witch as caught be today after being persuaded that I was pregnant again, so had a tough day yesterday, but okay now and ready to face cycle 3 after m/c.

Regarding concerns with short LP, I too was concerned about it as I thought it might have been low progesterone level that was the cause of the m/c, so started to take vit B complex 100, and that was made a real difference. This is my second cycle with a LT of 14 days exactly and spotting only showing very mildly the day before. The only downfall is that it is giving me very strong pg symptoms during the 2ww, my boobs have been so achy the whole time, all the way until this morning. Still, definitely worth a try.

Good luck to all of you in the 2ww. :hugs::hugs:

Hi All,

I'm almost 36, DH is 37 and we are trying for our first. I took a break this month as we had visitors that we hadn't seen in 4 years and I was also being treated for vaginal bacteriosis. Next month will be cycle 6 trying.

I worry every day that we've left it too late. Hopefully we'll all get good news soon.

Good luck ladies.

:hi: Old fart here! I am about to be 37 and my DH is 42. He has DD from previous marriage but we are working on our first together. Had a MMC in July so hoping the next one is sticky :) Hopefully next week will be my week- I should be ovulating and DH will actually be in town to :sex: FX I can get his little spermies every day- sometimes he only wants to take care of me, and that does me no good! (Well- not in the baby-making sense!!)

amos09: fxd for your bd'ing next week!!!

fi_broon: i too worry that it's "too late"...but i've heard and read so, so many stories of women in their late 30's/early 40's having babies. for goodness sake, i think i read that gina davis (from thelma and louise) is pregnant with twins at 48!!!! it's never too late. pma and loads of visualizing and meditating on what you want. :hugs:

FBbaby: thanks for the info on the short lp. good luck with cycle 3 (3rd times a charm!!!) :winkwink:

and to all the ladies, lots of :dust:

Do you sometimes feel like the ttc threads are all so young? I don't mind it but man do I ever feel old sometimes. LMAO

yeah, I feel old too, in the gen pop..even a little old on this thread (almost 40) sigh

I did not realize that Vit B could cause your BB's to ache?? Thats interesting. I've been taking a B Complex with Vit C and Folic Acid. I've alternated it with the Prenatal's my doc gave me. The prenatals make me soooooo constipated! (too much iron! a different kind of "tmi" :haha:) I've usually had sore BB's as part of PMS but also with pregnancy too. Mine seem especially sore this cycle, so now Im curious if it could be due to the B Vits? Gonna hit the Internet and see what I can find!

Thought I would join too! There is another thread called "Older ladies please be my friends" (or something similar) that I am also on! Both OH & I are 39, turning 40 in February. This is our second cycle of trying. I have just started the 2WW. I don't think I am going to find anything as hard as TTC as I'm obsessed so the sooner it comes the better! Although no doubt I'll then spend 9 months worrying but hey hopefully it will all be worth it!

Don't feel too old cause I'm right there with ya, I am 39 and very close to 40. I must say that your only as old as you let yourself be!

DH is 7yrs my junior and he complains constantly about feeling old. LMAO Don't know what he'll be like when he's my age.:haha:

I've just realised that I've been making clinical assumptions that might only apply to my own symptom spotting syndrome :laugh2: The logic goes like that: Vit B is supposed to help with the production of progesterone, and progesterone can mirror symptoms similar to pregnancy. I think the first part is definitely true, I'm not so sure about the second though, but I believe it to be the case for me.

I agree that you are only the age you feel like. Too bad our eggs don't follow the pma! I do agree though there is way too much emphasis on fertility decreasing after 35. To start with, there are many less women willing to ttc after 35, so numbers of pregnancy are bound to be lower just on that account. Also, if it has been proven that you are more likely to have fertility problems after that age, it doesn't mean that if you don't, it is going to take much longer to conceive than someone younger. My mum had my sister at 42 and her own mother had her, her first child (and only obviously!) at 45.

I am writing all this with conviction, but comes 1ww and I become a mad obsessed woman and when AF first shows her face, I feel like crying with worry that it is never going to happen. I think that cycle affects us all though, whatever the age.

Ladies ladies ladies.....

Have you not heard, thirties is the new twenties and forty is the new thirties so we are not as old as we think :haha:

My sis in law is due to give birth in 3 days and she is a very proud 40 year old :happydance:

On a good note, I have got my specialist appointment brought forward today becuase i told them re my recent loss, apparently I can class my chemical as a loss so that now makes 4 recurrent losses  but on a positive note if I get preggers this cycle I will be seeing gynea at 4 weeks pregnant, perfect timing xxx
