I am 37 weeks pregnant, and have found worms in my poo (sorry if tmi). My little boy had them, and the rest of the family have been treated, but the dr was reluctant to treat me unless I had symptoms.

Has anyone else had this ??? If so what did you do ???

I am so embarrassed  I feel sick with worry. I don't know what to do.

Oh hun i feel for you, i had them last year from my son and as he's such a grubby little thing i've treated him twice this pregnancy just in case. It's my worst nightmare. I think the cycle to clear them using the hygiene route is up to 6 weeks, which obviously takes you to full term. So unless you have a GP who will give you medication, i'd look at other routes, like sticking a clove of garlic up your bum (no, really) etc. You'll need to be religious about your personal hygiene, ie wear knickers in bed so the eggs don't drop anywhere, use a nail brush often and when you wash your hands before food so as not to add to the scratch/ingest cycle, change your towels and bedding as frequently as you can. It's a really crap situation, and i wholeheartedly sympathise!

ETA i think there are certain foods that worms like more than others, but i can't remember now, maybe sugary stuff. Ie avoid those. But look it up.

Don't want to read and run but I'm not sure what this is. Will have a look on google. Do you feel unwell?

Awwww I really feel for you.

I don't think there is anything you can do as they can't be treated till after the baby is born. Just make sure you disinfect everything in the house ie door handles and light switches etc and try and wash your bum and vagina area as soon as you wake up in the morning to get rid of eggs which lead to further infection.

Don't worry too much this is an extremely common thing and i'm sure there are plenty of women in the same position as you. :hugs:

Was just coming back to say that the natural remedies appear to be your best option.

u can take vermox while being pregnant just not in first tri as i asked my mw as my daughter had some a couple of months ago and i asked her incase i got them x

I am very rigorous with my hygiene etc. I have a bath every morning, and wash at night. I am always washing my hands. My nails are short. I use soap, and alcohol hand stuff. I don't know what else to do. I am just so upset.

Sometimes if you are going to get them there's not much you can do - the worm eggs live in the house dust and environment for up to 2 weeks i think once they've dropped, so something has come into contact with your mouth, maybe even your son gave you some bite of something, before you realised he was infected. Don't be upset, they WILL go if your remain rigorous (even though it's such a pain being ultra clean in he meantime).

i had them in my last pregnancy and if you follow strict hygiene rules they should go in a couple of weeks

every morning before you do anything else wash your bottom as they come out and lay eggs in the night ( i used to have a shower every night as well) and wash the towel used to dry seperately from everything else (put it straight in the washer)

after every bm wash your bottom

always wash your hands really well before preping food

i know its awful i was terribly embarassed but thats having kids lol they pick them up soooooooo easily

Well I call finding worms in your poo a symptom! go back to your doc hun and get it treated x

Glad it's getting sorted hun! Must have been horrible having to just "deal with it". :hugs: xx

Glad the Dr is giving you something. Looks like its pretty common tho and I wouldnt be embarassed at all!
