3D/4D Ultrasound

I'm scheduled for one next week, and I'll be 22 weeks. For those of you that had them that early, how did the pictures come out? They say I won't see a lot of face detail. Was it worth it?

Hi, I know I was excited for mine, I did one at 21 and 27.

I would honestly wait! I'd try to hold out for at least 27 weeks, I hear they are best up to 32 weeks.

At 22 weeks the babies are skinny and its hard to capture a good image

I've seen a lot of people advising/being advised that 27-30 weeks is best...We're hopefully getting one within the next couple of weeks (how long have I been saying that?!)...That'll give baby some time to put on some squishy baby fat and the later we leave it (before she starts getting engaged and we can't see her properly of course!!) then the less time between seeing her for the last time and meeting her irl.

Thanks girls! My other dilemma is if I want my husband to be at it, it has to be earlier. Or I could get it later and send him the dvd. :/

Id just go later. Your oh will still get to see. If you get it at 21 weeks you wont be seeing much. Bubs has no baby fat and no features that early on. I booked mine in for 29 weeks as they say between 28 and 30 weeks is best time. They wont even let you book earlier with the company ive chosen or later, as parents often feel let down.

i had mine done ay 28 weeks, would def wait if you can but its a personal choice, i found even at 28 weeks some pix wernt the best but i cant totally understand you wanting hubby there xx

They say later is better but that said I had one at 21ish weeks I think... Here https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=sxesweets&aq=f you can look at some of the videos from 2008 from my daughters ultrasound. I was pretty pleased with it and these were free taken during my routine scan

Thanks girls for posting your pics!! I think it will be equally as fun to see her at 23 weeks than later...but will just be a different view. And it will be nice to have my husband there to see it all first hand. We're getting it done on Friday...yipeee!

i waited until 28 weeks. and it was definitely worth it! although it was hard to wait so long hehe. if i were you, try to wait a bit longer

i had one at 25 weeks, and she was covering her face the whole time, so they rescanned my at 28 weeks, and she was doing the same again!

Well I went in for the 4D at 23 weeks, and the tech was having difficulty because the way she was positioned there wasn't a lot of fluid in front of her face, so the pictures weren't that clear (even for only 23 weeks). To us it was worth it just hearing that everything looked great though (things they can't see on 2D like soft tissue deformity)
So anyway, I get to go back at 28 weeks at no charge! So I got the best of both

At 16w+3 my images were beautiful, baby wasn't too skinny, got a lovely picture of his face!
