Hi Ladies

I am a confused Mum!

My little girl is nearly 4 months and up until recent weeks was a demanding feeder, feeding every 1.5-2 hours in the day and every 2-3 hours at night.

Over the last couple of weeks her daytime feeding has improved to every 3 hours, at night we had a growth spurt of feeding ever 2 hours but this has settled to every 3 hours.

The last couple of days she has wanted to go to bed earlier as tired so bed time is now 7pm compared to 8:30pm before.

Anyway, last 2 days her daytime feeding has worried me - in the night/early hours she is fine, feeding quickly at 15 mins per breast, both breasts at each feed. But yest and today in the daytime she has barely fed - she feeds for about 5 mins then pulls away screaming or looking around, sometimes she brings up wind and I try again but she gets so angry. She has done this all day today and I've offered her breast often to try and get her to have something.

She did have a bottle of EBM in the pm and tonight as a last resort - is this a growth spurt? Teething? We have given calpol as she has been chewing and dribbling a lot so thought teething?

I'm worried she will get dehydrated from not having much? Could it be she can get enough milk in 5-10min feeds now rather than 20mins-30mins like she used to be?

I'm worried after having a demanding feeder everything has changed!

Is this a developmental milestone throwing her off key?

Thanks!
Jane

My LO did exactly the same at that age. He suddenly started feeding for 10 mins per side whereas before, a feed was 30-45mins in total. He's still putting on weight so I assume he's just get better at getting the milk out. He also became really distractible. To the point where I can't sit next to anyone whilst feeding now as he just pulls off, puts his head back & grins away at whoever is sat there! I think they're just way more interested in the world at this age & so want to feed quickly so they can be off doing other things!
