Hello

My 5 week old baby boy who is being breastfeed and when required topped up with formula has some dry skin on his face, that's the only place he has it. I'm reluctant to put anything on it because he is still so small... But I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions and advice. Thank you. Xxxxxxx

As long as it's just eczema and not an allergic reaction to something, I've used lanolin or coconut oil, which work well over time on eczema.

I don't think it is an allergic reaction... I bought some john sons naturals moisturise cream and see if that helps. I'll speak to my health visitor when I next see her. Xxxxx

I was afraid to use products too when my baby was that small and the dry skin usually gets better on its own (supposing it's from dried up milk or spit up). So one idea is to wait and if it seems way too dry/cracked, you can use a tiny amount of cream.
Around 4 months I felt comfortable with using that tiny amount of cream without thinking too much about it.

My dd is 2 weeks old and had a little dry skin on her legs and arms- I was told by my health visitor any vegetable based oil is fine to use so I use olive oil. Just a little amount warmed between my hands massaged in. She has a couple of bits of dry skin on her face and im using it on there too :)

That's good to know about the oil, if it gets worse I'll try that. Thank you xxxxx

My lo had dry skin as a new born, my hv advised me to use grapeseed oil, it worked really well for us, and you can use it for baby massage too.
