6 days overdue and feeling really down :(

I'm now 6 days overdue and I'm feeling so low and resentful. I'm desperate to have baby by the weekend before my mum goes away. I really dont know how I'm going to react to other people seeing my baby if my own mum hasn't even seen him. I just feel so down about it all I've begged the midwifes for an earlier sweep..I've tried allll the things people say to get labour going..nothings happening. I'm getting angry with myself and annoyed with baby too! Which is wrong I know cause it isnt his fault..but I just can't get rid of these feelings..I end up crying everyday..
Has anyone just gone into labour when they had given up hope? Or gone into labour without having any presigns? I need some positive experiences!

Aww gypsyd, i just want to say that i do understand how you feel!
i was supposed to have my induction today but the maternity ward is full! and my baby is reeeeally not ready to come out, my cervix isnt even dilated.

But even so, ive found that im managing to get through the days (and nights) by trying my best not to get too deflated or upset. i think its such a pain when we have our due dates as it doesnt mean we should all have given birth by 40 weeks! some babies take longer/shorter.

as for your mum seeing babe, is there any way you getting her to see a pic/video of baby straight away? maybe get birthing partner to do it for you? or send her one on mobile?

Oh god thats the other thing! They cancel your induction if the maternity ward is full? I dont stand a chancee of my mum being here if thats the case..
I have to be honest that i dont actually mind going the full 2 weeks over i feel completely fit and healthy its just a pain that it clashes with my mum going away..

I could get a picture/video to her yeah..its still not the same though but i spose its the best she'll get! I cant stand the thought of OH's family all coming round since they all live local so i knoww they'll all be here straight away..thankyou for the kind words though x

teh more you stress the less likely baby will come and the more annoyed you will feel. relaxation is the key x

I'm also 6 days overdue but have already had an attempted sweep (it failed though as it was too high). They have also booked me in for an induction already.

Is this your first baby? I'm surprised they are not willing to help you along a bit. I was told I could have a sweep any time after 40 weeks although they recommend waiting a week. x

Yeah its my first, i did ring my midwife to beg for an earlier sweep as they wont give me one until im 11 days over..but they said its hospital policy that they cant give me one sooner..where abouts do you live? ive heard lots of people have sweeps earlier so im gutted they wont offer me anything..i'll just have to sit patiently and wait..

I find it sooo hard to relax! im always stressed lol

You need to relax, get a nice bath (not too hot) and put some music on. Apparently you are less likely to go into labour when you're all stressed out. I think to be honest babies just come when they are ready. All these theories are around because some people try them and then they go into labour so they are convinced it's because of that whereas other people (me) try them all and still have the baby 8 days late!

Don't worry about your mum, it will be all the more special for het having that anxious wait if she is on hols and she will be in his life all the time after she meets him whereas the other people might hardly see him.

Just relax, maybe just breathe slowly and softly say whilst stroking your tum 'now look baba mummy is not cross but if you don't come out right now then you're grounded for 20 years. Xx

I'm also over due (5 days)! I feel your pain, it just plain old sucks!!!!!! I am on the verge of tears too. I got a sweep done at 39 weeks and it didnt do anything but make me spot bleed for 4 days. Hopefully it's soon for all of us.

I'm in Buckinghamshire. That's quite late to wait for a sweep I think. In Bucks they book the induction in at 12 days over. I really feel for you . Are you getting annoyed with all the advice on how to induce the labor naturally? I know I should enjoy this time but it's so hard when you are so uncomfortable and are constantly on edge. xx

Hi I feel your pain,; I'm overdue by 10 days but have refused a sweep since unless you are ready they don't seem to work but cause bleeding or begin long, slow labours, we're also opting for monitoring not induction after 42 weeks since we want a homebirth as long as baby is healthy, which she appears to be. BUT the waiting is awful, I wonder if there is a baby there at all and if I'll be pregnant forever. Logically I know she has to come sometimes but WHEN?

I'm only 2 days over but already very frustrated I've had no signs, no loosing my plug, no false labour.

I am also getting fed up of women saying "oh it will be here by x date as you look ready" yet that day comes and goes. Stupid midwives messed up my appointments so saw one at 39 needs and don't see one again until 40+6 and my sweep won't be until at least 41 + 0 days. They induce at 12 days but its a Sunday so sure they will be too busy and its still 10 days away

I'm 11 days over I figure that by the time you get to 1 week over, your baby is going to come some time soon... I declined induction tomorrow but will take it on Sunday/Monday if they have space and baby hasnt come. you really do have low days but try and keep busy and it REALLY wont be long until you see your baby.
